However, Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith did not like the idea of him doing a n*de scene for the Alex Proyas-directed movie. She sat him down and even interrogated him about the scene. The actor assured his wife that it had got nothing to do with his co-star Bridget Moynahan. During an interview, Will Smith revealed-

“She didn’t like it when I came home with my skin all baby soft after performing n*de. And she didn’t like it either when I came home with my body all covered in bruises. I got away with the shower scene when I explained I wasn’t with Bridget and the n*dity was relevant to the movie.”

Will Smith played the role of Detective Del Spooner in 2035, who was not comfortable living with the robots. He had even consulted a psychologist in order to execute the frontal n*de scene properly. During an interview, he recalled-

“My character suffers from a psychological condition called survivor’s guilt, all right? … I sent a script to a group of psychologists and asked them, ‘Tell me what this character’s behavior would be.’ And they said paranoia was one of the things,”

On further explaining the shower scene, the actor said-

 “[There’s] no shower curtain, with the gun hanging over the thing, and they said he would never be able to wash his hair because he wouldn’t close his eyes in the shower. So it’s, you know, those kinds of things. But you probably have to have a degree in psychology to take all of that out of it. 

In order to get the perfect n*de scene and not offend the American audience, the full frontal nudity scene’s duration was reduced and digitally enhanced with the help of computer graphics. According to Will Smith, it was one of the most expensive CG shots.
