Will Smith is a renowned actor, known for his charm and impeccable acting skills. Previously, the actor garnered media attention for his infamous Oscar Slap. The incident is no secret to anyone, as since then many theories have been created. Because Smith didn’t apologize for slapping Chris Rock, many people condemned his act as a lack of humility.
Meanwhile, earlier during an interview, Smith shared the most humble experience of his life, where he realized his insignificance before the legendary figures.
Will Smith opened up about his most humble experience
Will Smith has delivered numerous incredible films throughout his career. One of the iconic films of his career is the 2001 film Ali. Although the film failed at the box office, it was well-acclaimed by the critics and also earned an Academy Award nomination. Ali is a biographical sports drama film, in which Smith portrays the role of the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.
During an interview with Esquire, Smith shared his experience working in the film. When the interviewer asked Smith if Ali was hard? He described it by saying, “It was excruciating.” Smith further explained by saying that performing in Ali was not just physically challenging but it required the same amount of toil emotionally as well.

The actor reflected on his experience in detail by mentioning that he had to learn a different accent for his role. Moreover, the filming took place on different continents which was again a toll. However, not everything was bad here as while filming for Ali, he also had the most humbling experience of his life. Smith shared that, he got a chance to have dinner with Nelson Mandela and Muhammad Ali. He said,
“That was the pinnacle. Nelson Mandela was on my left, and Muhammad Ali was on my right. And so I got fully aware that I meant absolutely nothing in this world.”
Indeed it was a great moment for Smith, as he realized that day while sitting alongside these legends, that all his accolades were nothing before the accomplishments of Mandela and Ali. However, this moment is certainly different from the recent Oscar slap incident, where Will Smith disregarded the lesson of humility.

The infamous Oscar slap needs no introduction as the incident immensely garnered media attention and made headlines. For the unversed, the infamous incident took place during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022. Actor Will Smith walked onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock after he cracked a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
The incident garnered wide attention in the media, which led to mixed reactions. Some publications described the incident as Smith’s way of defending his wife, showcasing his protective side for his family. Meanwhile, certain other news outlets pointed out the aggressive side of Smith. Additionally, what affected his public image was the fact that he was reluctant to apologize to Rock after publicly assaulting him. However, later he did apologize by claiming he was sorry to his family for “the heat that I brought on all of us” Following the incident, Smith was banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
