James Gunn says he’s up for considering popular fan castings when it comes to his DCU, could Jensen Ackles have a shot at Batman?

Could Jensen Ackles, an actor deemed as “the perfect casting choice for Batman” by Screen Rant, finally be in for a shot to star as the live-action caped crusader in James Gunn’s DC Universe?

Supernatural and The Boys star Jensen Ackles may just have a shot at playing the live-action Bruce Wayne aka Batman in James Gunn’s newly rebooted DC Universe over at Warner Bros. Pictures after all.

Ackles has long been vocal about the fact that he would one day love to star as Batman if given the chance, a character that the actor has voiced in animated projects such as Justice League: Warworld and The Long Halloween.

Although news on the next Batman has been quiet due to Superman: Legacy being the top priority at DC Studios, James Gunn’s latest update on the newly rebooted DC Universe has sparked Ackles fans to go into a fan casting frenzy.

When I’m casting a role I will sometimes see who fans have suggested online for folks,” the Guardians of the Galaxy director said.

He continued, “I or my casting directors haven’t considered. Sometimes they have good ideas, sometimes terrible ones. I don’t remember it actually leading to someone being cast, however.

Long story short, the DCU boss has confirmed that although he doesn’t always look, “sometimes” fan castings are considered when it comes to looking for people to play roles such as Superman, Bruce Wayne, Lois Lane, etc.
