Madonna is the Queen of Pop. In the 40 years of walking down this path, the singer has also some acting credits to her name. While she has turned down multiple roles including playing Catwoman in Batman Returns, the role she most regrets turning down was in a Keanu Reeves $1.7 billion franchise.

And it isn’t John Wick but rather The Matrix franchise which Madonna regrets turning down, which almost makes her kill herself.
Madonna Regrets Turning Down The Matrix Role
A still from The Matrix
Counted among the most influential figure in the world of ‘pop’, Madonna has remained the unmatched Queen in the genre for 40 years now. Not only does she have a flourishing career that is still going strong, but the Material Girl hitmaker has also starred in multiple movie projects, albeit in lesser-known roles.
While there have been multiple rumors and speculations of her having turned down certain roles in certain famous franchises, Madonna herself confirmed refusing Keanu Reeves‘s $1.7 billion franchise, The Matrix, which is also her greatest regret.
In an appearance for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Vogue singer revealed she was indeed offered a role but turned it down, not revealing which role it was.
Well, we understand her since it is no doubt one of the best movies ever made, a sentiment that the Vogue singer shares.
“That’s like one of the best movies ever made.”
While the singer doesn’t really regret anything in her life, this one incident makes her rethink her life choices.
“A teeny, tiny part of me regrets just that one moment in my life.”
The Matrix is certainly among the most celebrated movies of all time, and it is certainly more than apparent that the Grammy-winner might feel a bit regretful over turning down such a blockbuster franchise.
Madonna Also Turned Down Catwoman Role
Madonna could have been a DC superhero
Over the years there have been numerous contenders for playing the classic iconic role of DC’s Catwoman. and who would have been better to play the role in the 80s or 90s than the superstar Madonna? Known for her empowering unapologetic self, the singer would have been an excellent Catwoman.
However, she turned it down when she was offered the role in Tim Burton‘s Batman Returns. During the interview with Jimmy Fallon, Madonna expressed that she did watch the movie and also slightly regrets rejecting the role.
“I regret that I turned down Catwoman. That was pretty fierce.”
And fans can’t help but wonder how wonderful it would have been to have the Crazy for You singer star as the popular DC superhero.
Keanu Reeves’s The Matrix can be streamed on Max.
