Angelina Jolie has a magnificent career, especially in the action genre. Her action debut in Cyborg 2 got her into her first leading role in a big project, Hackers. Her titular portrayal in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider further established her action star who then worked in several great projects. Given that she gave her best as an actor, her personal life has also been in the regular spotlight.
She shares six kids with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. Not going to delve into some sensitive nerves, she is quite strict about what her kids should watch even if it’s her own film. It got quite serious when she decided to ban her critically acclaimed project which she took over from Tom Cruise.
Angelina Jolie Banned Kids to Watch Salt

Angelina Jolie had cemented herself as an emerging action star in the 2000s who even got the lead role in the 2010 action flick, Salt. She portrayed the role of Evelyn Salt, a CIA operative who is accused of being a Russian mole. She then goes on the run in order to clear her name.
She once told Access Online that she would not let her children watch the action-thriller film.
“I think it’s very hard for them to see someone trying to kill their mom, even if she wins.”
Given that the film had some violent scenes which might have had a serious influence on her kids, she did what she thought was right as a mother. While her portrayal garnered major positive acclaim from critics, she was not the first choice for the role. Her anti-heroine complex character was once made for Tom Cruise.
Tom Cruise Was Initially Meant to Work in Salt
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
While Jolie gave her best shot to make Phillip Noyce’s directorial a great success, the project was initially set to have superstar, Tom Cruise. After screenwriter, Kurt Wimmer sold a script titled The Far-Reaching Philosophy of Edwin A. Salt to Columbia Pictures, he showed his interest in working on the film. The script followed a similar plot as Jolie’s, with a major change being a male protagonist, Edwin A. Salt.
However, the Mission: Impossible actor, later on, changed his plans and dropped off from the project. As for the reason, he mentioned how that role was similar to his Ethan Hunt role. To avoid typecasting, he left the project with Jolie stepped in. She not only won fans’ hearts with her mesmerizing acting but also awed them with her enthralling action sequences. She gave her best to pull off difficult action scenes by majorly performing the sequence herself. It eventually grossed $294 million at the worldwide box office.
Salt is available on Netflix.
