One of the most anticipated shows this year is undoubtedly HBO’s The Idol with casts including Lily-Rose Depp, Jennie Kim, Abel Tesfaye (The Weekend), etc. It recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where Depp received a 5-minute standing ovation.
However, many have also criticized the show for showing too much nudity, intimate scenes, and just a very grim portrayal of the music industry in general. The story revolves around a pop star named Jocelyn who is determined to re-vamp her music career, and there are a lot of s*x scenes involved in the show.
Depp, who plays the role of Jocelyn, gave some details about the many intimate scenes recently at a Cannes interview. She mostly had nice things to say about the behind-the-scenes situation of the scenes.

Since the teasers dropped for HBO’s upcoming The Idol series, it has become the talk of the town with a cast line consisting of Lily-Rose Depp, Jennie Kim from the South Korean girl group Blackpink, Abel Tesfaye, etc. Following its 5 episode premiere at the Cannes Film Festival recently, one thing has been clear, and that is the great number of explicit scenes involved.
And so it happened that Depp, who plays the main character named Jocelyn, discussed the story behind these intimate scenes. Talking with Access, the 23-year-old actor revealed that she felt comfortable while carrying out explicit scenes and showing off her skin on the set. She said,
“I felt incredibly respected by, those that were listening to me, that valued my opinions”
Apart from that, she also addressed the comparison some people made between the character of Jocelyn and real-life pop star Britney Spears.
But despite some of the similarities, the role is neither based on Spears nor any other real-life people. Nonetheless, the actress expressed her admiration for the Pop Princess and said it would be great if she happened to watch the show in the future.
