Jessica Alba is one of the hottest Hollywood celebs on the planet. People still drool over her in the two Fantastic Four films. But the actress has stated that she doesn’t really feel comfortable baring her skin during bikini scenes. Apparently, this problem reached its height during a 2005 film.

Alba has starred in plenty of great movies in her career like Sin CityParanoidThe Veil, and more. But there’s one movie she did with the late Paul Walker that went under the radar of cinemagoers. In that film, the actress stated that she wasn’t comfortable with being ogled at and just wanted to cover herself up.

Jessica Alba Had Zero Fun Doing Bikini Scenes For Paul Walker’s Film

Into the Blue (2005) starring Paul Walker and Jessica Alba among others was all about treasures, illegal loot. But it seems like Alba wasn’t too fond of the film and its exposing scenes. She said in an interview with People magazine that, unlike her co-star Ashley Scott, she was busy covering herself up after the director called cut during the bikini scenes.

The star said:
“Costar Ashley Scott is really comfortable with her body, so that helped me. She would just throw on a bikini and walk around, and meanwhile, every time the camera shut off, I was covering up in a towel and hating my life and calling my mom, and being like, ‘I can’t do this! I hate this movie!’”
It seems like audiences didn’t like this movie as well because it sank without a trace. As per The Numbers, it had a budget of $50 million, and could only collect $41 million globally. As for why Alba hates skimpy scenes, it’s apparently because she’s critical of her own appearance.

During the People magazine interview, Jessica Alba stated that she scrutinizes her body a lot. The Awake actress revealed that this is why she prefers to get into the psyche of her characters so that the nerves go away. She said:
“I’m quite critical of my own appearance, but I had to just think the way the character did. She’s not sitting there looking at her body. She’s just working and she lives in the Bahamas, and if she didn’t wear a bikini, it would be weird.”

But doing bikini scenes wasn’t the only problem the actress had to face. Alba also had to swim with real sharks in the movie and it freaked her out because the animal was way too close to her. The star detailed the heart-attack-inducing experience, saying:
“One instance in particular, the shark’s mouth was open and it was coming at me, and nobody was warning me – the camera operator was just filming it. And I saw in my peripheral vision, because of my mask, that a shark’s mouth was coming toward me, so I just hit it away. After that happened I was really paranoid about sharks getting too close to me.”
The actress also stated that she’s an adept swimmer and can handle herself in the water. Even though Into the Blue was a dud, it did get a direct-to-video sequel called Into the Blue 2: The Reef. As for what’s next for the actress, MCU fans think her version of Sue Storm could make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars film. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.

Into the Blue is available on Amazon Prime Video.
