Henry Cavill’s more than upsetting year at Netflix and DC has given him enough reason to look for better avenues in the future. The actor whose career had just begun to take off after playing the Man of Steel in the eponymous 2013 film had reached incredible success in visionary superhero and fantasy epics.

However, in the matter of a single month, The Witcher actor not only resigned from the Netflix project but has been removed from the roster of James Gunn’s DCU as well. It should be logical at this point for the British actor to scrub clean all the history and start anew someplace else.

Henry Cavill Turns Down $8M Salary For Netflix’s The Witcher

The high fantasy epic by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski was one of the works held in high esteem by Henry Cavill. Amid works of similar genres and building his own Superman PC, one can imagine the investment that Cavill holds for originality is almost identical to the audience’s obsession with the actor himself.

It would then infuriate him to witness the burning of the source material enough to make him quit, which is the current working theory of the internet sleuths who have been trying to work out the reason behind Cavill’s sudden departure.

At the moment, petitions have taken hold over the internet, devastated ever since The Witcher announced Liam Hemsworth taking over the reins from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The audience almost unanimously settled on blaming the writers after the blundering mishap of Season 2.

As such, the avalanche of emotions attached to the project and Cavill’s exit as Superman has led to further speculations about the Netflix series offering the actor increased pay to return as the series lead. Previously, Cavill was paid $1 million per episode which would then account for an overall earning of $8 million over the course of Season 2 of The Witcher.

Henry Cavill Moves On From Netflix and DC For Amazon

From the collision that hit Henry Cavill head-on in 2022, the actor steps beyond the wreckage for sunnier pastures. After such critically acclaimed roles as Superman and the Witcher, and the audience recognition and fan following that now come attached with Cavill, he shifts house to Amazon Studios for a passion project on which the actor is set to star and serve as the executive producer as well. The latter part of the job protects the IP from falling prey to discord among writers and producers, since it’s clear that he can bridge the gap from his executive standpoint.

The new project has been announced to be a live-action adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 which Amazon is currently pursuing to close amidst a competitive bidding war. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Cavill project (if Amazon succeeds in acquiring the rights from Games Workshop) will be a series adaptation of the popular science-fiction fantasy miniature wargame, with Vertigo Entertainment serving as producers alongside the actor. On a side note, Cavill had been famously ridiculed over his fascination with Warhammer in an episode of The Graham Norton Show.

The synopsis of the tabletop game series follows a stagnant human society set 40,000 years into the future where the dystopian society witnesses the humans clashing with forces like aliens and supernatural creatures over an unending war, while gods and demons factor into the narrative as well.
