Popular for starring in several successful franchises Keanu Reeves has now established himself as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Being one of the biggest stars has also made him a well-recognized face all around the world. However, it was not the case during his initial years in the industry. Reeves became a household name several years after entering the industry when he starred in the 1989 film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures.

Before that, he worked in multiple films, including the 1986 crime drama River’s Edge. And it was that one project, that gained him his first star sighting, and the actor has not forgotten that one fan interaction to date.

 

Keanu Reeves on Being Recognized For His Work

After starting his career with movies like Youngblood, Keanu Reeves landed a role in the 1986 crime drama River’s Edge. The movie follows a group of friends who get embroiled in the murder of their friend’s girlfriend, who was killed by him.

While some of them want to protect their friend, Matt (Keanu Reeves) doesn’t wish to do the same. The film did pretty well at the box office and was praised by critics as well. And it also became the first movie that anyone recognized the John Wick star in.

The actor recalled the fan interaction during an interview. He shared that he went to the cinema with his friend in Westwood, Los Angeles. They later went to an ice cream store as it was a hit summer day. And he was amazed after he was offered the ice cream for free.

“The guy gave us our ice cream, I went to pay, and he said, ‘No, man.’ I was like, ‘What?’ He was like, ‘River’s Edge,’” Reeves shared. The actor shared that the ice cream clerk recognized him from the 1986 film, and offered him the ice cream for free. He even asked the ice cream clerk, “You sure, man?” and he assured him that he offered the ice cream for the 1986 movie.

 

Keanu Reeves is Not Comfortable With Too Much Attention

Keanu Reeves has a huge fan following all across the world. The actor has gained worldwide recognition as the retired assassin John Wick and Neo from The Matrix. And fans patiently wait to get a glimpse of the Hollywood star on several occasions.

However, he starts feeling uncomfortable when things get too much. He opened up about the same during an interview as he described how it gets too much sometimes. “In terms of being on the street, it’s important to me to be able to move in the world and luckily I can,” he said before describing some of the things he is not comfortable with.
“There’s certain moments in time, like sometimes before a premiere, it seems to intensify in terms of people following you and taking your pictures as you walk out of your car, which is a drag.”
It slightly shows that the free ice cream was a gesture that meant a lot to him than constantly being captured into the camera.
