Jennifer Lawrence starrer No Hard Feelings can be pretty weird for some fans as the comedy movie follows an awkward story. But the movie has received a fair critical response and has grossed over $85 million against the $45 million budget.

No Hard Feelings is steamy and mostly filled with the idea of attempting to push the weird chemistry of weird characters. Perhaps, that’s what makes it funny. Although Lawrence was not hesitant to move forward with the raunchy scenes with the 21-year-old co-star, the chemistry would definitely be labeled as awkward.

Andrew Barth Feldman, 21, played Percy, a geeky nerd from a rich family. The parents of Percy hired Maddie, Jennifer Lawrence’s character— a failed Uber driver attempting to get back on her feet—  to date their socially awkward son. The 32-year-old actor even admitted, “It’s really pushing the envelope and really inappropriate and raunchy.” Talking to Entertainment Tonight the actor added, “After you wrap something like thatyou’re like are we gonna be okay?”

The film also contained some nude scenes but  Lawrence and Feldman did not have any serious issues doing the scenes. “I don’t know it didn’t really feel like a  big deal to me I just yeah you just kind of just gonna do it,” Lawrence said. Adding to the point, Feldman said, “We had intimacy coordinators. We had a ton, the set was closed like it was a safe and professional it could possibly be.”

Interestingly, Lawrence was shooting The Hunger Games while Feldman said, he was probably 10 years old at the time. For Lawrence, it was crazy to recall the journey and play this old lady in a raunchy comedy.

Lawrence has worked with a lot of co-stars in her decade-spanning career, sometimes being young and working with older stars and sometimes being the older lady herself. Despite tons of experience, the Oscar winner said that she has always feared young co-stars of being annoying.  Fortunately for Lawrence, Feldman was “genuine bubbly” and most importantly not annoying. “I was very worried that my young co-star was going to annoy me all day every day,” Lawrence told People. “Immediately I obsessed out I was like okay this is not an annoying person. Um, mature,” she added.

The duo also revealed that they have hung out at Lawrence’s house. “We hung out,” the Red Sparrow star said. “It was literally just Andrew,” she continued. “It’s gonna sound more romantic than it was but we drank red wine and sat by the fire,” she added. Talking about casting Feldman for the role, Lawrence said that she immediately knew he was the right fit.
“We had auditioned you know a lot of really great actors but the moment he left we, we knew it was him. I wanted to actually chase him out in the street but everybody was like ‘No.’ And I was like ‘okay.’”
The chemistry worked, and the duo also revealed that they had fun filming the movie. Significantly, the script of the movie brought back Lawrence from hiatus after she decided to stop working for a while. Hopefully, the Silver Linings Playbook star continue to make her screen presence soon again.
