Lamine Yamal has emerged as the latest rising star in world football – and has revealed the one superstar who has asked him for his shirt during Euro 2024.

Yamal has only just turned 17 but has already amassed dozens of games in first team football for both club Barcelona and country Spain, having made his Barca debut at the age of only 15.

The winger is currently on international duty with Spain and is part of the squad which has reached the Euro 2024 final, where they will face England on Sunday evening at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.

Spain are the favourites to win the final and claim their fourth European Championships title.

On the other side of the draw, England topped Group C following victory over Serbia and draws against Denmark and Slovenia.

Gareth Southgate’s team overcame Slovakia 2-1 after extra-time in the last 16 phase, before beating Switzerland 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the quarter-final.

When the game was looking to be heading for extra-time, substitutes Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins combined for Aston Villa striker Watkins to fire home what proved to be a late winner.

It ensured England will be playing in their second successive Euros final, having been beaten on penalties at the hands of Italy at Euro 2020.

It means Yamal will face England for the opportunity of winning the first silverware of his senior international career.

With the calibre of teams Spain has played so far, there have been plentiful opportunities for youngster Yamal to swap his shirt at the end of games.

And the youngster has confirmed that only France superstar Kylian Mbappe has asked him for his shirt so far this tournament.

Yamal will start meeting Mbappe on the pitch at club level on a regular basis in El Clasico, with the Frenchman joining Real Madrid this summer after the expiry of his PSG contract.
