Will Trevor Noah pay mom’s R24m Sars debt?
Has South African comedian Trevor Noah – who has a net worth of over R1 billion – returned home to pay his mom’s R24 million Sars debt?
Trevor Noah has made a low-profile visit to South Africa – and fans think it has everything to do with The Daily Show host’s mother Patricia who has found herself in a financial crisis
The Soweto-born comedian was seen catching up with his SA group of friends in pics that were posted on social media over the weekend.
Earlier this month, Patrica made headlines after it was revealed that she raked up a R24 million in tax debt.
MOM’S MONEY WOES
According to City Press, Patricia – mom of Trevor Noah – was reportedly issued with a final letter of demand from the SA Revenue Services (Sars). The letter states that Patricia has an outstanding debt of over R24 million, with Sars threatening to sell her assets if she fails to make payment.
According to the publication, Trevor’s mom is in the property business with the company PN Noah Estates registered in her name.
In 2016, The Star reported that Patricia was the owner of numerous flats in Hillbrow and the Joburg CBD. The publication also accused the woman of being a “slumlord” and “exploiting” the residents who lived in her properties.
According to Sars, Patricia was given 10 business days to make arrangements to pay her outstanding debt.
Failure to do such could result in a warrant of execution for the Sheriff of the court to attach and sell her assets.
In pics posted on Instagram over the weekend, Trevor Noah was spotted in the company of his group of friends which include Sizwe Dlomo, Khaya Dlanga, and Anele Mdoda. The longtime pals were seen catching up on conversation and a Fifa World Cup football match.
TREVOR NOAH NET WORTH
According to Evening Standard, Trevor Noah has a $100 million net worth – over R1,6 billion – which is more than enough to cover his mom’s Sars debt.
The Daily Show host is also the owner of multiple multi-million rand properties. On the career front, the comedian has no doubt ticked many items off his bucket list.
