Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark instantly became one of the best players in the WNBA during her rookie season in 2024.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes sharpshooter transitioned her game from college to the pros almost instantly. During her first WNBA season, Clark broke the single-game and single-season assists record and scored the most points by a rookie in league history. All this happened on her way to becoming a member of the All-WNBA first team and winning the Rookie of the Year award.

Many WNBA players have shown their appreciation for what Clark has brought to the league, and that includes New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu.

Ahead of the Oregon Ducks’ matchup against the Maryland Terrapins, “B1G Tailgate”—a college football pregame show on the Big Ten Network—broadcast its Week 11 episode from Oregon’s campus, where Ionescu played in college.

Ionescu, now a WNBA champion, made a guest appearance on the show and discussed the possibility of competing in another three-point contest against NBA stars after playing against Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry in the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend.

When asked about a potential 2-on-2 matchup against Curry and his former teammate Klay Thompson, Ionescu didn’t hesitate to name the player she would want as her partner.

“I mean, if I would have to choose, I’m taking Caitlin Clark on my team,” Ionescu said.

Ionescu and Clark were two of the most lethal long-range shooters in the WNBA during the 2024 season. Both stars were ranked top five across the league in both three-pointers made and attempted, with Clark ranking first in both categories.

If the pair were to team up against Curry and Thompson, who earned the nickname “Splash Brothers” from their incredible three-point shooting during the recent Warriors dynasty, the contest would certainly be a good one.
