Taylor Swift can rest after surviving a shocking ordeal during which a stalker attempted to break into her home in New York City.

The Grammy-winning artist is in the financial capital of the world to do some of her own recording work but also to watch her boyfriend – Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce – take on the Buffalo Bills.

Although this wasn’t someone seeking to capitalize on her sudden appearance in the city as the offender had reportedly been trying to gain access to the building for weeks.

“Upon arrival, [police] were informed that the individual attempted to open a door to a building at the location,” the public information officer said after the arrest.

Police had arrived at 13:45 ET in several patrol cars and spoke to the man for several minutes before arresting him in what was said to have been a “civil” affair with no aggression.

Police further said that he was arrested for an outstanding, but unrelated, warrant and it wasn’t connected to Taylor Swift.

Was he trying to see Swift?

Whilst the police stopped short of saying he was trying to get into Swift’s Tribeca home, eyewitness accounts insist that’s exactly what he was trying to do. Residents suggest that he might have formed a romantic parasocial relationship with Swift as he apparently turned up with flowers prior to Christmas

He didn’t get into the Eras Tour singer’s property and she doesn’t seem to have been there at the time either.

“I first saw him around 1 p.m. – he went up to Taylor’s door,” one eyewitnesses said to PageSix.com. “I’m not sure if he knocked or rang the doorbell.”

A second source backed that up, saying to the media outlet that he’d been lurking around for a month and was, “sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking constantly, shouting, and generally making everyone uncomfortable.”

Whilst a third described him as “catatonic” and a “total nutcase.”
