North West’s bond with her father, rapper Kanye West, has been revealed in her first cover interview for i-D magazine, but fans have agreed that their closeness is down to her mum, Kim Kardashian

North West has spoken about her bond with her father and controversial rapper Kanye West.

In her first cover interview with i-D magazine, the 10-year-old confirmed that her favourite song at the moment comes from her dad’s debut album The College Dropout. North’s favourite, Through The Wire, details Kanye’s experience when he was in a near-fatal car crash and had to have his jaw wired shut.

The album won Kanye his first Grammy award for Best Rap Album as well as his daughter’s approval. In the interview, North also shares that she loves singing, and when asked if she gets her passion from her family, she says: “Sometimes, mostly from me though. And then a little bit of my dad.”

Kim has been very careful to make sure her frustrations with Kanye dad don’t affect their children. She broke down in tears on The Kardashians explaining that everything she does is for them. And it’s clear that her hard work has paid off as North still idolises her father.

For Halloween, one of North’s outfits included Kanye’s iconic bear mascot from his 2007 album, Graduation. The debut the costume, she danced on TikTok to her dad’s hits, including, I Wonder, Can’t Tell Me Nothing and a sped-up version of Estelle’s 2008 hit, American Boy which Kanye infamously featured in.

Upon seeing North’s credits and homage to her dad, fans were quick to praise her mother Kim Kardashian for allowing North to have a close relationship with her dad, despite their rocky split. One fan wrote: “North is really her father’s daughter and seems like a very happy child. Kim is doing an amazing job.”

A second put: “Aww thanks to her mom for allowing it. She loves her daddy.” Meanwhile on TikTok, fans who saw North’s dancing videos wrote: “I love that Kim is so for it too, I know they miss him dearly.”
