The SKKN BY KIM founder has long dealt with her psoriasis condition, and has made it her mission to share her story with her fans, inspiring confidence and decreasing stigma. Sometimes, that means being honest about pain and the feeling of helplessness.

Kim Kardashian opens up about psoriasis journey

“How crazy is my psoriasis right now guys? It’s like all up my leg. I don’t know what’s happening. But I gotta figure this out. This is crazy,” she said in the background of the first of three videos on her Instagram story Tuesday.

She also wrote a caption over the video: Not gonna lie this is painful. Not sure what my triggers are. I haven’t changed my diet. I’ve tried everything! Psoriasis sucks.

“Just wanted to share my journey with you guys,” she wrote on the second story. The SKIMS founder’s final video included a lighthearted remark about the shape of the psoriasis.

“Am I tripping? Or is my psoriasis in the shape of a heart for Valentine’s Day?” joked the 43-year-old. “Do you guys see that, kind of right? Like I think I totally see it. And I can see the psoriasis everywhere else.”

“But lucky me, I have a heart-shaped psoriasis for Valentine’s Day.”

Helping others through vulnerability

Kardashian’s courage to be open and honest about her medical condition, especially on social media where the reality star is harshly judged by her image, is admirable.

“If you have psoriasis, you can’t let it ruin your life or get the best of you,” she wrote in an essay published on sister Kourtney Kardashian‘s website Poosh in 2019. “You have to do what you can to make sure you are comfortable but not let it take over.”
