Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met while they were filming the romantic film The Last Song. They started dating and fell in love during filming and attended the premiere of the film as a couple. The couple became engaged to one another in 2012 after their on-and-off relationship. However, the engagement was called off in 2013 and the two broke up again.

Cyrus and Hemsworth were seen together in 2016 and the pop star later revealed that they were engaged again. The two married in December 2018 but soon separated in August 2019. Hemsworth filed for divorce a few days later citing irreconcilable differences and the divorce was finalized in 2020.

Cyrus had spoken about Hemsworth and their relationship on multiple occasions. Reminiscing about her meeting him for the first time on the sets of The Last Song, Miley Cyrus revealed in a TikTok video series titled Used to Be Young,

“I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real-time and in real life, so the chemistry was undeniable. And that was the beginning of a long, 10-year relationship.”

The singer has also allegedly written songs about their relationship at various stages of it, with one of the most popular being Malibu and Adore You.

Liam Hemsworth Almost Sued Miley Cyrus For Flowers

As mentioned, Miley Cyrus has reportedly spoken about her relationship with her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in many songs. Dating back to their initial breakup in 2013, the singer released Adore You from her album Bangerz. The singer herself acknowledged that the album traced their relationship on the talk show The Ellen Show. She said,

“The whole album is the story of that and I think it says that starting with Adore You and ending with ‘Someone Else,’ is I feel like you can really find this arc of growth.”

The actress has also spoken about the relationship when they got back together in 2016 in the song Malibu. Other songs in her discography have also been speculated to have been about her relationship, marriage, and divorce from Liam Hemsworth. However, the pop star has been silent about such speculations lately.

Her most recent album Endless Summer Vacation features the song Flowers which has again been attributed to be about her divorce from Hemsworth. However, an X user put up a post stating that the actor was thinking about filing a defamation lawsuit against Cyrus for writing about their relationship in the song. The post also alleged that the song resulted in Hemsworth almost losing out his role on Netflix’s The Witcher.

The post was said to be a hoax later. Though Cyrus has not come out and said that the song was about her ill-fated marriage, many details point to the fact that it is about Hemsworth. The lyrics allude to their Malibu home, which they lost to the 2018 wildfires, and even refer to Hemsworth’s decision to separate. The song was also released on Liam Hemsworth’s birthday.
