The embassy used Swift’s album titles — ‘Speak Now,’ ‘Fearless’ and ‘Red’ — to address concerns about her travel plans
The Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., joined the choir of voices addressing Taylor Swift’s busy travel schedule in February.
After the Kansas City Chiefs punched their ticket into the 2024 Super Bowl, people wondered whether Swift, 34, would be able to attend the Feb. 11 game in Las Vegas after her Feb. 10 Eras Tour stop in Tokyo to support the team and her tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34.
The embassy — leveraging Swift’s album titles Speak Now, Fearless and Red in a statement — assured Swifties and NFL fans that the “Mastermind” singer could “comfortably” make the trek.
“Despite the 12-hour flight and 17-hour time difference, the Embassy can confidently Speak Now to say that if she departs Tokyo in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins,” the embassy wrote in a statement shared on its verified @JapanEmbDC Instagram account and other social media profiles.
“We know that many people in Japan are excited to experience Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, so we wanted to confirm that anyone concerned can be Fearless in knowing that this talented performer can wow Japanese audiences and still make it to Las Vegas to support the Chiefs when they take the field for the Super Bowl wearing Red,” the statement concluded.
Swift is scheduled to attend but not perform at the Feb. 4 Grammy Awards before flying to Japan to perform four-consecutive nights at the Tokyo Dome on Feb. 7-10.
After the Feb. 10 concert, Swift is expected, though not confirmed, to hop on a flight in Tokyo to fly to Vegas in order to watch the Chiefs and Kelce face off against the San Francisco 49ers. At some point after the game, Swift would then need to leave the United States to get to Australia for her seven shows in Melbourne and Sydney on Feb. 16-26.
Prior to the NFL championship, the 12-time Grammy winner has attended 12 Chiefs games since she and Kelce went public with their relationship in September 2023. With Swift in attendance, the Chiefs have won nine games and lost only three games.
After defeating the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 28, Kelce found Swift on the field after his victory, hugged her and kissed her to much fanfare.
The Super Bowl would mark Swift’s 13th game — her favorite number.
