Helen Flanagan shares struggle with daughter after being told she hated her after cupcake blunder

I’m A Celebrity star Helen Flanagan has revealed she was told by her daughter that she ‘hated’ her after a kitchen mix up.

Mum of three Helen revealed her solo parenting struggle after explaining how she gave a treat to her son Charlie, but ended up upsetting her eldest child Matilda. Helen shares Matilda, eight, Delilah, five, and two-year-old Charlie with footballer ex Scott Sinclair.

Writing on Instagram, Helen told fans: “Matilda told me she hated me tonight because I gave her greedy baby brother a cake that she made. She made some Christmas cupcakes with her auntie and I didn’t realise they were for school and she did one for everyone in her class. She hugged me though and said she was frustrated not ready for teenage behaviour yet.”

Alongside the parenting confession, Helen shared a selfie of herself in her kitchen as she facepalmed over the mix up. The upset was quickly calmed down, as Helen went on to share Instagram Stories with her eight year old including calling her “sassy”.

The parenting blunder comes as Helen has revealed she won’t be spending Christmas Day with her three children. Scott and Helen announced they were splitting after 13 years together last summer, but as it was so fresh still decided to spend Christmas together as a family in 2022. But this year the kids are having Christmas with Scott’s side of the family, who live in Bath nearly 200 miles away from Helen’s home in Bolton.

Admitting she feels “really sad” when she is apart from her children, 33-year-old Helen revealed she won’t have her kids for four days over the festive period. Instead the mum of three will have a special New Year instead where she will take them on holiday.

Opening up to Closer magazine, the actress shared: “My children are very close to Scott’s mum – we got on very well – and they live in Bath and I live in Bolton. My children really miss their daddy and they’re very close to their nanna so they’re going to spend Christmas with them. I won’t have them for about four days. It will actually be the first Christmas that I don’t have the children.”

She added: “I think it’s good to have challenges and with co-parenting, you have to be fair. And it’s not about you, it’s about the children what makes them happy.”

The former Coronation Street actress also revealed that next year, when it will be her turn to have the children, it will be a different affair as she explained: “I’m going to take all three of my kids, and my friends, to Bali for New Year.”
