Is it a catchy mashup or a subtle sign Joe Alwyn cheated? Depending on which Taylor Swift fan you ask, it could be either.

The popstar’s fans are now convinced that the actor was unfaithful to her – after they claimed to have uncovered a secret message about their breakup in her recent performance.

Taylor recently performed a mashup of three songs from Fearless (Taylor’s version) during her show on February 17 in Melbourne, Australia – which left Swifties agog at its potential meaning.

The 34-year-old hitmaker belted out Getaway Car, August and The Other Side of the Door in the acoustic set – but some perceptive Swifties think there may be a hidden meaning to her choice of songs.

Taylor and Joe publicly announced their split in April 2023, after six years together. The pair pictured in April in 2019

‘So Getaway Car is from the perspective of the cheater, August is from the perspective of the other woman, and The Other Side of the Door from the perspective of the woman who was cheated on,’ one social media user theorized on X, formerly known as Twitter, after seeing the song lineup.

Rumors about Joe, 33, allegedly cheating on his former girlfriend first swirled in April 2023 after the couple split following six years together.

Just weeks after they called it quits, Joe’s co-star Emma Laird uploaded a photo of him to her Instagram account, sending the rumor mill into overdrive about the possibility he had already moved on with the actress.

Some even hypothesized that Emma, 25, uploading a picture from the Bowery Hotel was a hint she was now dating the actor, who wrote under the pen name William Bowery on several of Taylor’s albums.

Many fans are adamant the songstress was dropping clues confirming this was the case with her poignant song choices during the Eras tour concert.

‘Taylor Swift played Getaway Car x August x The Other Side of the Door and This Is Me Trying so I blocked Joe Alwyn,’ one fan declared.

‘Getaway Car, August AND TOSOTD?!?!? I’m sorry… GETAWAY CAR, with AUGUST? and THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR???????’ another fan wrote.

‘A mashup of GETAWAY CAR, AUGUST, TOSOTD?????? like ???? do you all understand?!? the implications??? the bridges that these songs have??? (sic)’ they exclaimed.

‘[Twitter] finds out Joe allegedly cheated and then Taylor Swift sings three songs about cheaters cheating then THIS IS ME TRYING??? Someone dig that man a grave,’ another agreed.

Someone else shared specific lyrics from each song, suggesting they correlate to her failed relationship.

‘I’ll just leave it here,’ they wrote, with screenshots of lyrics.

In Getaway Car, Taylor sings, ‘But with three of us, honey, it’s a sideshow.’

The next song in the mashup was The Other Side of the Door, where she sings, ‘And I broke down crying, was she worth this mess,’ before getting to August, with the popstar crooning: ‘Cause you were never mine.’

Others were unsure if her song choice was intended to be scrutinized this much.

‘Like I know there are signs straight from Taylor but my brain cannot process that this British Victorian child might’ve had the audacity and courage to cheat on the Taylor Swift,’ a fan pointed out.

Some fans also believe the singer’s sultry black-and-white album cover on a bed for her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, is a nod to Emma Laird’s Instagram picture at the Bowery.

Many Swifties also think that several songs on the artist’s new album will be about hers and Joe’s romantic breakdown.

Neither Joe nor Emma have ever confirmed a relationship with each other.
