Man Utd receive another huge transfer window boost that could see them sign second Ligue 1 star

Manchester United could sign a second player from Ligue 1 after receiving a huge transfer boost.

On Wednesday it emerged that Leny Yoro was closing in on a move to Manchester United in a deal worth over £50million.

The 18-year-old has completed a medical in England and is expected to finalise the details of his contract on Thursday.

Yoro is set to sign a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

However, United could be on the cusp of signing a second player from League 1.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are advancing in their talks to sign Joao Neves from Benfica.

And the 19-year-old’s arrival in the French capital could pave the way for the Old Trafford club to sign Manuel Ugarte.

Having arrived at PSG from Sporting last summer, Ugarte endured a difficult opening campaign at the club, starting just 21 League 1 games as Luis Enrique favoured the likes of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Warren Zaire-Emery.

According to Sky Sports News, via GiveMeSport, Ugarte is keen to leave PSG, with United wanting to offer the Uruguay international a more prominent role.

United are looking for a long-term replacement for Casemiro and at 23, Ugarte could be the perfect midfield anchor alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the coming years.

Talks between the two clubs are said to have been taking place for several weeks, with PSG keen to recoup much of the £50million transfer fee they paid to sign the player.

United are said to want a fee closer to the £33million mark, with a compromise likely to be reached.

As per Sky Sports, with Casemiro and Scott McTominay potentially leaving, United co-owners INEOS may feel they need to accelerate their pursuit of Ugarte.

Furthermore, should PSG complete a move for Neves it could open the door for Ugarte to complete a move to Old Trafford.
