The Indiana Fever announced the firing of head coach Christie Sides on Sunday.

Following the 2024 season, the Fever made the decision to part ways with its second-year head coach, despite making the postseason for the first time since 2016.

After Indiana’s decision began to circulate on social media, Sides responded.

She posted a short message about her time with the Fever, which spanned from the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

“Leave it better than you found it,” Sides posted with the peace sign emoji.

As Sides packs her bags, Indiana begins a coaching search, looking to bring in the correct candidate to propel the franchise forward.

During Sides’ first year with the Fever, they posted a 13-27 record. Indiana was listed as the No. 10 team in the WNBA standings, holding a 6-14 record at home and 7-13 on the road.

In 2024, the Fever went 20-20. Sides led the team to its first 20-win season since 2015. After a quality regular season, the No. 6 Fever were eliminated from the WNBA playoffs following a 2-0 first-round sweep by the No. 3 Connecticut Sun.

Caitlin Clark

The Fever’s next head coach will walk into an intriguing situation.

Indiana’s roster features the last two Rookie of the Year award winners rostered, Caitlin Clark in 2024 and Aliyah Boston in 2023.

Both had incredible seasons in 2024 and vastly improved throughout the year.

Clark finished the season averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game. Boston posted 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
