Man Utd prepared to hijack Liverpool's first summer transfer as long as one deal goes through first

Liverpool are still looking for their first transfer of the summer window.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to hijack Liverpool’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

The 24/25 Premier League season got underway this weekend with United beating Fulham 1-0 on Friday night.

Liverpool then beat newly-promoted Ipswich Town 2-0 in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the weekend, Liverpool remain the only team yet to bring in any new players this summer.

Real Sociedad and Spain star Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Anfield last week in what was a huge blow to Arne Slot’s plans.

After missing out on Zubimendi, Liverpool are reportedly targeting Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote: “Liverpool are seriously considering opportunity to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili for fee in excess of €30m for Valencia and then loan him out.

“No final decision yet but talks continue, it’s up to Liverpool. Georgian GK keen on move to #LFC with loan next, as @relevo reported.”

He added: “One more meeting has already been scheduled for Liverpool to discuss Giorgi Mamardashvili deal with Valencia.

“Up to the Reds as he’d be loaned out and Georgian GK is keen on this solution.”

As reported by The Mirror, United are planning to hijack Liverpool’s deal to bring Mamardashvili to Anfield.

However, in order for United to try and lure the Georgian stopper to Old Trafford, they will first have to part ways with Jadon Sancho.

The 24-year-old winger has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund and even Chelsea.

However, with under two weeks to go until the transfer window shuts, Sancho remains a United player.

After being left out of the squad to take on Fulham, Erik ten Hag said: “I can only put 20 players. Jadon had an ear infection in the week. He was not 100%. He could have played but I had to make choices.”
