CILLIAN Murphy purchased a stunning Victorian home in Monkstown, Dublin.

The Peaky Blinders star bought the house in 2015 for €1.7million.

The actor lived in the UK for over a decade with his wife, Yvonne McGuinness, and their two sons, Malachy, 16, and Aran, 14.

But around seven years ago, they packed up and moved back to Dublin.

Cillian said: “We were in London for 14 years, both our kids were born there and we only came back to Dublin in 2015.

“It’s kind of an Irish story to move away, do your thing and come home, that seems to be a common narrative for Irish people.

“And then we wanted the kids to be Irish.

“They were sort of at that age where they were pre-teens, they had very posh English accents, and I wasn’t appreciating that too much so we decided to come back.

“And you know, parents are at a certain age, it was just a nice time to come home.”

The beautiful period home was built in the 1860s.

The structure is a protected building and “is an excellent example of a Victorian terraced residence” according to Sherry FitzGerald who sold the home.

The website said: “All of its magnificent original features remain intact.”

It consists of six double bedrooms and a drawing room and came with a number of original fireplaces.

The property’s original listing displayed a photo of the living room with large windows, high ceilings, a chandelier and an iron fireplace.

PEAK EXCITEMENT

However, after he purchased the house it received permission to upgrade.

The 3,444sq ft house is situated beside the sea and close to amenities such as yacht clubs, parks and schools.

Houses in the same area have since been sold for €3.6 million.

It’s unknown if the Cork native bought the stunning home to live in or an investment decision.

This comes after Cillian said that a new Peaky Blinders film is “close”.

The Tommy Shelby actor says that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has almost completed the script for a movie reboot of the gangster drama.

‘MORE STORIES TO TELL’

Knight had previously planned for a seven-season run of the drama, which is set in post-World War One Birmingham and follows the story of the Shelby family.

But in 2021 it was announced the sixth season would be the last on TV screens and that the story would conclude with a film.

Cillian revealed how he’ll pull his peaked cap back on for the role if there are “stories to tell.”

He said of the film: “Yes, I believe so. I’ve still not read it (the script) but that’s the plan, the plan is to make a film and to continue the story but in the cinematic world rather than on the television.”

He added: “The television part of the story is finished. If there’s more stories to tell, I’m there I just haven’t read it yet but it’s close apparently.”
