FANS of Emma Stone have shared their concern for the actress, after she appeared to look ‘tired and wobbly’ at the premiere for her new movie.

But others were convinced there was an easy explanation for the Oscar winner’s behavior.

Emma produced and stars in the new movie Poor Things.

The 35-year-old is already earning rave reviews for her role as a young woman brought back to life, who soon heads off on a whirlwind adventure.

Emma Stone sparked concern with her appearance at an event

Emma’s own adventure with the film culminated on Wednesday, when she and her fellow castmates celebrated at the premiere in New York City.

The star turned heads walking the red carpet in a custom embroidered yellow Louis Vuitton gown, accessorized with a glistening flower necklace.

However, as the night went on, fans started to notice a change in her appearance.

A video from the event, and posted on production company Searchlight Pictures TikTok account, showed Emma seemingly clinging to her publicist, as co-star Mark Ruffalo promoted the pic in the background.

Emma seemed to walk slowly, with a bit of a bobble, as she pointed a finger at The Avengers star, and uttered: “Hi, Mark.”

She continued to stare at the 56-year-old with an open mouth, even as she was whisked away.

Mark, in the middle of an interview, paused to glance at his co-star, noting: “And there she is.”

‘IS SHE OK?’

In the comments section, fans openly wondered if there was something wrong with Emma.

“Uhh, is she okay?” one person asked, as another echoed: “Emma? U ok?”.

A third person noted: “Ok, so we are all concerned about Emma. (Is) that what I am gathering?”

Still, some fans speculated there could have been several reasons for her behavior.

“I think she had a few glasses of wine,” one person justified. “I act just like that.”

Another agreed: “She prob just overindulged at a party! We have all been there.”

A third pointed out: “I think her dress just made it hard for her to walk.”

While a fourth asked about her critics: “Do any of them take into account her sense of humor? I think she’s probably just acting derpy/awkward on purpose.”

And one person reminded: “She broke her toe!! Everyone leave Emma alone.”

SHINING STAR

In her new movie, Emma plays an “oversexed and volatile” female Frankenstein, in a dramatically different retelling of Mary Shelley’s classic horror story.

To get into character, the La La Land star ditched her signature red hair, to instead look practically unrecognizable in ong, raven-black hair and a light yellow gown.

In a photo snapped during production, she seemed to be makeup free, or wearing very little.

The actress was seen gazing off through a forest scene while co-star Ramy Youssef was standing off in the background.

In the thriller, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma plays Bella Baxter who is brought back to life by the brilliant but unorthodox Dr Godwin Baxter, portrayed by Willem Dafoe.

Emma and Yorgos have previously worked together on 2018’s The Favourite, where she starred alongside fellow Oscar winners Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman.

The Greek director has an impressive list of films to his name, including The Lobster in 2015 and 2017’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

During a 2018 interview with Interview Magazine, Yorgos said: “I do enjoy awkwardness.

“I think it’s an important feeling for people that maybe generates some kind of thirst to wonder about things.

“As an audience member myself, I love to be in a position where I’m trying to figure out what I am supposed to feel, or if what I’m feeling is appropriate or not.”

SWIFT APPROVAL

Also turning heads at the premiere was Emma’s old friend Taylor Swift.

The pals have been close since they were teens, and it’s believed Emma even made her way into one of the singer’s songs.

After Taylor Swift shared the track list for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on Monday, June 5, 2023, fans began pondering the identity of Emma from the album’s eighteenth track, When Emma Falls in Love.

The track is among six previously unreleased “From The Vault” songs that fans got to hear for the first time on July 7.

Swifties soon took to social media to insist that Taylor wrote it about her pal Emma and Kieran Culkin.

The timing would add up: Taylor wrote the original Speak Now album between 2008 and 2010, a time when her friendship with Stone was appearing to blossom.

Emma dated Macaulay Culkin’s younger brother in 2010, after they met on set of the film Paper Man.

Kieran – who starred as Roman Roy in Succession – and Emma broke up in 2011.

TELLING TAYLOR TALES

One fan tweeted: “Taylor Swift wrote a song about Emma Stone being in love with Kieran Culkin I love that.”

And someone else said: “Emma & Andrew met in December 2010, at the time the songs would’ve been written she was dating Kieran Culkin.”

Taylor and Emma are old friends

They’ve even pointed out an apparent reference to Emma in the track’s opening lines.

Taylor sings: “When Emma falls in love, she calls up her mom, jokes about the ways that this one could go wrong.

“She waits and takes her time, cause little miss sunshine always thinks it’s gonna rain.”

Fans are speculating that “little miss sunshine” is a reference to Emma’s 2010 movie Easy A, as one of the most iconic scenes involves her character singing Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine in the shower.

BFF’S

Emma and Taylor met at the April 2008 Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles, California, which was hosted by Hollywood Life magazine.

They were pictured together at the cocktail party whilst each sporting purple dresses, which is all too fitting for the then-unborn Speak Now album.

Since then, the pair have maintained a strong friendship.

Over the years, they have attended multiple events together — such as the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and the Met Gala — and have supported each other’s careers.

As the outlet reported, in September 2010, Taylor attended the premiere of Emma’s film, Easy A.

Emma also attended the opening night of Taylor’s Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona.

The La La Land actress said at the time: “The concert was pretty amazing. I was lucky ’cause we’ve been friends for a really long time.

“I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get.

“She’s a wonderful friend. She blows my mind. I mean, the amount of sheer stamina to do three and a half hours and perform 44 songs and to maintain the extreme energy of the audience—I’ve never seen anything like it.”
