Margot Robbie also played the iconic character of Jane Clayton in The Legend of Tarzan. However, in order to bring the animated heroine to life, the creators of the film advised the actress to shed some weight. Alas, Margot Robbie does what Margot Robbie wants. She managed to convince the makers not to go down that road. Unfortunately, her co-star Alexander Skarsgård didn’t have the same privilege.

While the team wanted Margot Robbie to diet and exercise to lose weight for the 2016 film, Robbie had other plans. She told Australia’s TV Week that since it was the first time she got to stay in London properly, she didn’t want to miss out on the bar culture. Therefore, she convinced the creators that since the film was set in the 19th century, some weight was good for her character.

As reported by Yahoo Movies, Robbie told Australia’s TV Week,

“It’s the 19th century [in the movie] — if she’s got a bit of weight on her, it’s probably a good thing. I’m not going to look thin just for the sake of it. It was my first time living in London properly and I wanted to try every pub.”

Well, there you go. When Robbie has to choose between enjoying her time out, drinking, and taking care of her diet, she is going to choose the former. After all, you only live once!

In order to bring Tarzan to life, Alexander Skarsgård had to look like the character. It is no secret that Tarzan looked like something straight out of Greek mythology and therefore, Skarsgård had to give his body the time and effort needed to reach Tarzan’s physique. If you have seen The Legend of Tarzan, The Legend of Tarzan, you know very well he succeeded in his quest. And how!

But it wasn’t easy for the actor to achieve the look. He was put through an extreme diet where he ate 135g of protein, 70g of fat, and 200g of carbs every day.  Speaking to Men’s Health, Skarsgård’s nutritionist and trainer, Magnus Lygdback, gave his fans an insight into the actor’s diet.

He stated, “It’s not for everyone…When building a superhero, there’s really three cycles.” These cycles, according to Lygdback, are the bulking phase, the cutting cycle, and finally the maintenance period. Skarsgård’s diet included seafood and slow carbs along with healthy fats. The healthy fats included avocadoes and unsalted nuts.

Why unsalted? Well, Lygdback stated, “The reason for eating less salt when cutting is that salt binds water, and you’re trying to get rid of that water retention.” Skarsgård also had to avoid any kind of sugar and this even included the natural sugars found in fruits.

Robbie once recalled, “the day he was allowed an apple.” The True Blood actor was so grateful that he actually planted a kiss on the fruit! There’s a lot more to Skarsgård’s diet, however, when the actor could finally eat whatever he wanted after the shoot, he went all out! He stated that he spent 4 days in bed being fed by his father. From pasta to fried mozzarella, Skarsgård was not holding back! Well, he sure deserved it all.
