In November, Grande was seen at the opening night of Broadway’s ‘Spamalot, in which Slater stars
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have been spotted enjoying a night out.
Pictured together for one of the first times, the singer and Broadway star were photographed stepping out in New York City on Friday, when a source close to Grande told PEOPLE they ate dinner with her father Ed Butera at her family’s favorite Italian restaurant before seeing Slater in Spamalot.
Grande, 30, was dressed in all-black with a furry bucket hat, mini skirt, and black top with furry cuffs. Meanwhile, Slater, 31, went for an athletic look with a zip-up, joggers and running shoes.
“They love to support each other in their work,” the source said. “When she’s done with work, Ariana loves going to the theater when she can.”
Earlier this month, Grande shared a carousel of photos to Instagram, including one snap that showed a Spam can ornament hanging on a wall Christmas tree made of green garland.
Of course, fans will know the ornament is a shoutout to Spamalot, the 2005 Tony-winning musical adaptation of Monty Python and The Holy Grail. A revival of the comedy is currently running on Broadway, starring Slater, 31, in a variety of roles.
Grande has been a visible supporter of the show, heading to the St. James Theatre in New York City to see Slater in the musical multiple times since it began rehearsals in October. She was seen cheering him on during the show’s first preview performance on Halloween and attended the opening night of the Broadway musical on Nov. 15.
Grande and Slater met on the set of the upcoming movie adaptation of Wicked, and developed a romance offscreen.
The pair’s relationship, which was first confirmed by PEOPLE in July, began after her separation from husband Dalton Gomez and Slater’s separation from wife Lilly Jay. Grande and Gomez, 28, settled their divorce in October after two years of marriage.
Both Grande and Slater have a love for musical theater in common. He made his Broadway debut in 2017, as the title character in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical. Grande got her start on Broadway too, with her first big credit in Jason Robert Brown’s short-lived 2008 musical 13.
Since Grande and Slater’s romance became public, the couple has tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight and keep things low-key, with a source telling PEOPLE in September, “They are just trying to navigate their new relationship in private.”
While Grande has been seen at Spamalot often, she and Slater have yet to make their red carpet debut.
