Ariana Grande turned up the heat at the Capital Summertime Ball with a blazing set on Saturday night.

The singer, who spoke to us backstage about THOSE rendezvous with Niall Horan before she performed, put on a fiery display while wearing next to nothing at London’s Wembley Stadium.

She also turned rapper by performing the rap part of Bang Bang, her song with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, who is usually on rap duty.

The star looked as though she’d been given instructions to go Wembley Swimming Pool rather the iconic stadium as she wore what looked like a black swim suit.

But with the scorching heat coming from her special effects it was probably wise not to put on too much.

Ariana Grande's Electrifying Performance at Summertime Ball

It wasn’t just Ariana who was having a ball at the spectacle as her mum also got excited as she was heard backstage gushing about David Beckham.

A source told Mirror Celebs: “Ariana’s mum was backstage saying she was hoping David would turn up with the kids.”

As well as Ariana’s pulsating performance, another which will live long in memory, certainly for Directioners, was One Direction’s first performance on English soil without their former bandmate Zayn Malik.

Unfortunately for the group, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall, it didn’t go without a hitch as they experienced microphone issues early on.

But the boy band still managed to impress the screaming crowd with several of their hits including What Makes You Beautiful, Story of My Life and Best Song Ever.

And their fans will be even more delighted to hear that the group are NOT going on a break anytime soon.

Ahead of their performance, Liam told us: “We don’t know where this has come from because we’ve got loads of stuff going on.

“We’ve just started the process of recording the new album, there’s a whole new tour going on and some really good songs.”

As well as Ariana’s mother, news of the Beckhams’ VIP appearance caused quite a stir backstage.

However, some guests mistook a 12-year-old boy for Romeo Beckham and began chasing him which led to the youngster having to be rescued by staff.

A source said: “Staff had to take him away because girls were literally chasing him. He’s in one of the similar rooms to Becks’ family.

“The screaming girls are causing chaos backstage!”

Rita Ora also attracted some screaming from fans during her energetic performance to get things going ahead of the home straight which saw performances from the likes of Fifth Harmony, Nathan Sykes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jess Glynne and OMI.

Kelly Clarkson also rocked up on stage after she’d spoken to us about those hurtful weight comments dished out by Katie Hopkins earlier this year.
