On a night filled with memorable moments it was a lingering shot of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet that proved to be the biggest takeaway from the 81st annual Golden Globes on Sunday evening. 

Seated together and surrounded by their peers at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the couple – whose developing romance has surprised even their most ardent fans – were seen enjoying an intimate exchange as the event live-streamed across social media.

Chalamet, 28, among the nominations for his starring role in musical fantasy Wonka, had arrived alongside influencer and TV personality Jenner, 26, for their first red carpet appearance, and what would transpire to be a very public declaration of love.

While fans have offered contrasting theories regarding the exchange, MailOnline’s expert lip-reader has revealed what the couple really said to each other before sharing a rather awkward looking kiss.

The lip-reader revealed that the exchange began with Chalamet telling Kylie: ‘You’re the best’.

Jenner is then seen holding his necklace as she says to him: ‘This is really elegant… it’s black’, to which he replied: ‘You like it?’ as she then assures him: ‘Yes it’s so nice!’

Then Chalamet looks deep into her eyes as he sweetly says: ‘I love you’ as Kylie then says ‘I love you’ back.

As the intimate chat continued Chalamet then added: ‘I love thinking about you’, before Jenner says the same thing back to him before they both share a laugh.

The lip reader then added that later in the chat Chalamet asks her ‘how are the lips’, shortly before they had a kiss.

Their public makeout session caused a social media frenzy on Sunday night.

The smooches caused a stir online as fans rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a string of hilarious memes.

Many compared the couple to the viral ‘Is this allowed’ 2014 kissing vine, while others begged the cameras to stop panning to the PDA.

‘Having to watch Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner make out every 29 seconds,’ tweeted one onlooker.

Others quipped that Jenner’s Momager Kris Jenner was behind the scenes orchestrating the publicity, with one tweeting: ‘Kris Jenner must be a part of the camera crew or something every break they get a angle of Kylie and Timothee.’

Viewers pointed out that the constant panning to the couple was like a ‘fan cam’, with some joking they were taking a shot every time they were spotted kissing.

And one viewer summed up the night with the tweet: ‘I stayed up all night and all I’ve seen was timothee kissing kylie all night.’

An onlooker told DailyMail.com that Timothee and Kylie only had eyes for each other in the a-list packed room: ‘They were at their table staring at one another.

‘They didn’t talk to anyone during the commercial break, they were just kissing… it looked like puppy dog love, like high school.’

The pair have been dating since early 2023 and have ramped up their public appearances together in recent months.

They are said to have sparked up a romance after they both attended the Jean-Paul Gaultier fashion show on January 25, 2023.

Then in mid-April, after news broke of their coupling, Kylie’s Range Rover was seen in the driveway of Chalamet’s Beverly Hills home.

That same month, People’s source reported that the stars were ‘hanging out and getting to know each other’ with another insider revealing that they ‘hang out every week’ but it’s ‘not serious’.

The couple hard launched their relationship by putting on a cosy display at Beyonce’s concert in September – which was also attended by her ex-boyfriend Travis Scott.

They were seen kissing and flirting at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, in a clip shared to social media, at the singer’s third and final LA Renaissance tour stop.

While Kylie has typically dated rappers – fans were bemused by her relationship with Hollywood star Timothee.

After the clip went viral online, many fans were quick to share their thoughts and some admitted they didn’t believe the romance rumors until seeing the photos.

One person, assuming the whole romance had been faked, even said: ‘Timothee and Kylie! It wasn’t a prank?’

Meanwhile eagle-eyed fans spotted Timothée in the background of an image taken at her family’s Christmas Eve party, proving he is part of the family.

While the new couple have worked hard to keep their eight-month romance under wraps, the Wonka actor was captured chatting with the makeup mogul, at the lavish celebration, held at her half-sister Kim Kardashian’s $60 million Hidden Hills mansion.

The Academy Award nominee’s presence was confirmed by Kourtney Kardashian’s stepson, Landon Barker, who shared a picture of his father, Travis Barker, who was just a few feet in front of Jenner and Chalamet, on Snapchat.

Kylie and Timothee sparked another viral moment on Sunday night after wild fan speculation suggested Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were gossiping about the couple.

Taylor, 34, was pipped at the post to the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award – a new category for the 2024 Globes – as her The Eras tour movie lost to Barbie and was seen being consoled by BFF Selena, 31, before the drama began.

Video from their table shows the pair and Miles Teller’s wife Keleigh Sperry having an extremely animated discussion – with a somber Selena waxing lyrical to a shocked Taylor and Keleigh, before the latter is clearly heard clarifying: ‘with Timothee?’ as Selena nods.

Fans quickly began to analyze the clip and claim Selena was detailing how she asked the Wonka star for a photo – but Kylie allegedly said no. 

Selena and Timothee previously starred as love interests in Woody Allen film A Rainy Day In New York back in 2018.

A tweet from popculturegal claimed Selena said: ‘i asked for a picture with him and she (kylie jenner) said no’.

One fan wrote: ‘Selena so real. Whenever something happens to me i’m running straight to my girls’

Another wrote: ‘She was making sure to YELL that loud so everyone could hear her lmfaoooo’ while a third typed: ‘I just love Taylor’s face’
