Nick Carter is continuing to defend himself against sexual assault claims, adding a new name to his defamation lawsuit against his accusers.
On Wednesday, The Blast reported that the Backstreet Boys star is also suing accuser “A.R.”.
The Blast reports that Carter’s accusers Shannon Ruth, Melissa Schuman Henschel, Jerome Schuman, A.R., and Doe @ElaineMoo Twitter Account Holder have been cited in the suit as co-conspirators who have been attempting to financially ‘extort’ him.
Carter has been accused of sexual assault in three separate lawsuits, and has denied them all.
DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Carter for comment.
In the new lawsuit he has denied the accusations made against him and claimed the allegations were part of a conspiracy to harass him. He intends to clear his name and is seeking $2,350,000 in damages for punitive damages, emotional distress, and attorney’s fees.
‘Ruth and A.R.s’ lawsuits are the culmination of an approximate five-year conspiracy orchestrated by Co-Conspirators to harass, defame, and extort Carter. The campaign was launched and bolstered by the #MeToo movement,’ the lawsuit reads, according to The Blast.
Carter had already countersued accusers Schuman and Ruth last year, and his new filing contains many parallels to that particular lawsuit. It now includes A.R., a woman who accused Carter of sexually assaulting her multiple times back in 2003 in a lawsuit filed over the summer.
The lawsuit describes how a ‘salacious blog entry’ published by Schuman in November 2017 sparked the whole controversy. In it, she claimed she had been sexually assaulted by Carter in 2003.
Afterwards, Ruth and A.R. were allegedly recruited into the defamation scheme by Schuman and her father Jerome, according to the suit.
According to the suit, Ruth was allegedly groomed and coached by Schuman and Jerome to worsen her allegations against Carter. Ruth’s allegations against Carter advanced from bullying all the way to sexual assault.
The lawsuit also claimed the co-conspirators had made past attempts to extort him financially using civil attorneys.
But the attorneys allegedly refused to move forward with their clients’ ambitions after they were shown the evidence during an examination into the allegations.
In addition, Carter’s did not negotiate with the accusers, which only increased the ‘harassment’ against him.
This led to Carter and others being accused of ‘cover-ups’ and ‘victim bullying’ by the accusers.
Aaron Carter, Nick’s younger brother who died at age 34 in 2022, was also raised in the suit.
‘In the months leading up to his recent death, Aaron not only apologized to Carter for his involvement in the [accusers] smear campaign but publicly stated that [accusers] were liars,’ the suit stated.
‘Aaron also confirmed and exposed [them] underlying conspiracy to defame and extort Carter, stating, ‘Melissa Schuman incited a plan with her father to use me and my platform.’
When A.R.’s lawsuit against Carter was revealed in August, Carter’s attorney Dale Hayes Jr. told DailyMail.com in a statement that the singer was ‘pleased with A.R.’s recent filing as it will ensure that all of the currently known co-conspirators will be brought to justice together,’ in referring to the separate suits.
Over the summer, a Las Vegas judge ruled that Carter’s countersuit against Schuman would be allowed to move forward.
Carter was in court for a hearing after Schuman and her father Jerome had sought to block a countersuit he filed after she had sued him claiming he had sexually assaulted her in 2002, TMZ reported.
Judge Nancy Allf allowed Carter’s lawsuit to move forward, saying that Carter had shown the court enough evidence to merit the suit proceeding.
Carter in April faced allegations of sexual assault and battery from Schuman in a lawsuit over an alleged 2002 incident that took place at an apartment in Santa Monica, California, TMZ reported, citing court docs.
Schuman accused Carter of forcing her to perform and receive oral sex at a time when he was 22 and she was 18. She said that her first sexual experience was with Carter, despite her insisting to him that she did not want to have sex until she was married.
Carter’s lawyer Liane K. Wakayama told DailyMail.com in a statement, ‘For years, Melissa and Jerome Schuman have been conspiring with anyone they could manipulate to drum up false claims against Nick Carter in a brazen attempt to get rich off of him.’
Schuman in 2018 filed a police report against Carter at the Santa Monica Police Department, but prosecutors did not purse the case at the time.
In filing the lawsuit last year, Schuman cited a new bill in California that allows the lifting of the statute of limitations for civil actions, as she hopes to have a judge review the information in the case.
In February, Carter named Schuman in a $2.3 million suit against Ruth, who has also accused Carter of sexual assault, TMZ reported.
In the suit filed by Carter, the boy band alum said Schuman coached Ruth in an extortion attempt he says has cost him millions in lost wages.
Carter’s lawyer Wakayama, told TMZ in a statement at the time about the legal moves: ‘Melissa Schuman has been peddling this tale for many years, but her allegation was false when she first made it back in 2017 – and it still is.’
Wakayama told the outlet that ‘a judge in Nevada recently ruled, after reviewing the extensive evidence we laid out, that there are strong grounds for Nick Carter to proceed with his lawsuit against Ms. Schuman for plotting to damage, defame and extort Nick, his associates, his friends and his family.’
Ruth, who said she is autistic and has cerebral palsy, filed a suit in December of 2022 claiming that Carter got her drunk and sexually assaulted her on a tour bus in 2001, when she was 17.
Carter in March said in legal docs reviewed by TMZ that he had 12 witnesses present on the night of the concert that could prove that Ruth’s claims were ‘factually impossible.’
Nick’s younger brother Aaron Carter was found dead at 34 in November 2022 at his home in Lancaster, California. An autopsy revealed that he drowned in his bathtub after consuming Xanax and huffing.
