Matthew Perry elaborated on the struggles and changes that he suffered while battling with drug addiction and alcoholism in his memoir.

He mentioned being distressed about his changing appearance while doing the sitcom and it would hurt him to watch Chandler Bing as he changed due to the extreme consumption of Vicodin. He wrote:

“You can track the trajectory of my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season — when I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, it’s pills. When I have a goatee, it’s lots of pills. By the end of season three, I was spending most of my time figuring out how to get 55 Vicodin a day — I had to have 55 every day, otherwise, I’d get so sick.”

Perry spoke about his addiction journey openly and thanks to Jennifer Aniston who didn’t leave him alone while the actor needed his friends.

The 17 Again star said: “She was the one that reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that” in The Diane Sawyer Interview.

Perry revealed that Aniston Knew he was drinking and supported him while he was grappling with health conditions.
