Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet became one of the most iconic couples on-screen after starring in James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
The movie features the duo in the lead roles of Rose and Jack, and surprisingly, they showcased incredible chemistry despite meeting for the first time at the movie’s set.
Titanic went on to be a massive hit and is still considered among some of the best romance movies.

This week, the film has been re-released in 4K Ultra HD, prompting Winslet to reminisce about her collaboration with DiCaprio in the Oscar-winning masterpiece.
Kate Winslet Reflects on Meeting Leonardo DiCaprio For the First Time
As a re-mastered 4K Ultra HD version of Titanic hit the screen earlier this week, Kate Winslet shared her experience working with Leonardo DiCaprio.
In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the 48-year-old actress shared that she and her co-star “clicked immediately” after meeting on the set of the 1997 film. She said,

“He was this kind of a mess of long, skinny, uncoordinated limbs, and he was just very free with himself, and he had this effervescent energy that was really magnetic.”
The Oscar-winning actress also shared that she had a feeling that she and the Revolutionary Road actor would get along pretty well and would have fun making the film. “And we just really did. We just really did,” she recalled.

Winslet also recalled the “curious” nature of her co-star, noting his deep fascination with the period details related to the boat.
The duo, who first met in 1996 while starring in James Cameron’s film, have since developed a strong friendship and mutual respect for each other.

During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kate Winslet also talked about her years-long friendship with her Titanic co-star. The actress shared that she and Leonardo DiCaprio always remain in contact over the phone.

“And we’ll always just make that call right away. There’s no, like, ‘Hang on, I’ll call you tomorrow.’ It’s instant,” she said, as she shared that she is grateful to have such a friend in her life.
Winslet said, “In the world that we live in now, to have friendships that bind you and that shared history, it’s really something.”
After Titanic, the duo once again collaborated for the 2008 romantic thriller Revolutionary Road. However, despite portraying each other’s love interest on-screen, both have claimed that they are nothing more than friends.
DiCaprio has also referred to Winslet as one of his “dearest friends” in an interview.
