WNBA star Angel Reese left fans stunned when she confessed that she’s forking out $8,000 a month in rent—a fee that her Chicago Sky salary doesn’t even come close to covering.

Some criticized the 22-year-old for lamenting her low paycheck, while others voiced horror at the sky-high cost of her lavish Chicago apartment; however, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran has now leaped to Reese’s defense, insisting that her rent is actually a pretty good deal.

Corcoran, who is based between New York and California, spoke to TMZ about the furor surrounding Reese’s monthly outgoings, explaining that she believes the basketball pro is actually getting a lot for her money, at least where her apartment is concerned.

“$8,000 a month in Chicago, she’s lucky she gets a kitchen for it,” Corcoran says, adding that the basketball pro would be in even more financial trouble if she was living in New York.

“Thank God she’s not moving to New York. Here, she’d pay $12,000 for the same apartment. So, it could be worse,” she went on. “It’s a decent deal.”

Real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran has spoken out to defend Angel Reese over her $8,000-a-month rent.

Corcoran went on to predict that Reese won’t have to worry about rental payments for too much longer, suggesting that she will likely end up buying her own home in the near future, particularly if she keeps drawing in the lucrative endorsement deals that have funded her lifestyle thus far.

The Corcoran Group founder spoke out in support of Reese just days after the former LSU superstar took to her Instagram Stories to admit that if she were forced to rely on her WNBA salary alone, she wouldn’t be able to cover her rent, or her other monthly costs.

The Chicago Sky forward confessed that she had been “living beyond her means,” adding that she actually doesn’t know the amount she makes from her basketball career alone.

“Hatin’ pays them bills baby,” she told her followers. “I just hope y’all know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that doesn’t pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick … I don’t even know my salary—74 [thousand]?”

Reese’s salary for her first season was $73,439. She signed a four-year, $324,383 contract with the team. However, unlike many of her peers, Reese has other income she can rely on, thanks to her success as an online influencer and content creator.

While she was a student at LSU, Reese had one of the highest NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) valuations of any college athlete—rivaled only by a few major names, including her on-court nemesis, Caitlin Clark, who has also since joined the WNBA.

In recent years she has inked lucrative deals with Wingstop, McDonald’s, Raising Cane’s, PlayStation, Amazon, and Coach. According to USA Today, the she earned around $1.7 million from sponsorship deals in 2022 and 2023.
