The Dragons are about to embark on the new League One season and Phil Parkinson’s could strengthen again.
Wrexham are about to embark on the new League One season and could add a Sheffield Wednesday forward to their ranks after emerging as front-runners for his services.
Phil Parkinson’s Dragons won promotion to the third tier of English football last season after finishing runners-up to champions Stockport County in League Two.
It meant back-to-back promotions for the Welsh side, having won the National League in the 2023-24 campaign.
The Stok Cae Ras side begin their campaign next weekend when they host Wycombe Wanderers in a 5.30pm kick-off and the Dragons have added several players to their squad ahead of the beginning of the new League One season.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has joined from Arsenal on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell last season in which he became the club’s number one stopper.
Midfielder George Dobson and goalkeeper Callum Burton have joined on free transfers from Charlton Athletic and Plymouth Argyle respectively.
And fees have been paid to Leicester City for Lewis Brunt, Aston Villa for left-back Sebastian Revan, and to Plymouth for defender Dan Scarr.
The focal point for Wrexham this season and the club’s main goal threat is expected to once again be Paul Mullin, who has scored 105 goals in 140 games for the Dragons since joining in 2021 following his release from Cambridge United.

Targetman Ollie Palmer, veteran Steven Fletcher, and the mobile Jack Marriott are among the other forward options Parkinson has at his disposal – but it appears the Dragons are seeking further reinforcements at the top end of the pitch.
According to former Sunday Mirror sports news editor Darren Witcoop, who now works in PR & Talent management in sport and entertainment, Wrexham have emerged as “front-runners” to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s young striker Bailey Cadamarteri on loan.
The 19-year-old, who is the son of Danny Cadamarteri, has come through the youth team ranks at Hillsborough and has five goals in 26 games for the Owls, having made his debut for the club in 2022.
Cadamarteri’s Wednesday contract runs until the summer of 2028 which was agreed at the end of last year, which explains why Wrexham are said to be signing the teenager on loan from the Championship club as he gets more minutes of senior men’s football under his belt.
