Pedri breaks silence after Euro 2024-ending tackle with 21-word message to Toni Kroos

Pedri suffered a knee injury during Spain’s Euro 2024 quarter-final win over Germany.

Spain star Pedri sent a message to Toni Kroos after the Germany midfielder’s tackle ended his tournament at Euro 2024.

The Barcelona midfielder had suffered an injury-hit season prior to arriving at Euro 2024, but was fully fit to start Spain’s campaign in Germany.

He started Spain’s first two games of the tournament, producing star displays in victories over Croatia and Italy.

The 21-year-old was rested for the final group stage victory over Albania which ensured Spain’s 100 per cent record remained intact, and was restored to the side for the last 16 success over Georgia.

But Pedri’s quarter-final against Germany lasted just eight minutes after he was injured by a tackle from Kroos, who is playing in his last tournament before retiring from professional football.

The Spanish FA later confirmed that the midfielder had suffered a knee injury and would miss the remainder of the tournament.

Initial reports suggested he had suffered an injury to his lateral collateral ligament (LCL), but that is yet to be confirmed.

Pedri has now taken to Instagram following the announcement that he would play no further part for Spain at Euro 2024 – and included a message to his Real Madrid rival.

He wrote: “I came to Germany for Euro 2024 and I will continue here, until the end. Because the dream, do not doubt it, continues.

“This week, it’s time to encourage and contribute in another way to this great family that is @sefutbol. Their support, and that of all of you, has been incredible.

“The hardest moment has passed and the road back is now beginning, to soon be at full strength with Barcelona.

“Thank you, Toni Kroos, for your message. This is football and these things happen. Your career and your record remain forever.

“I just want to say one more thing. LET’S GO SPAIN!”

La Roja will take on France in the Euro 2024 semi-final on Tuesday, with the winner of that clash taking on the victor of Netherlands versus England from the other last four fixture.
