Angel Reese denies having beef with Caitlin Clark, but she is not letting her fans off the hook.
Reese said what she wanted to say in her podcast debut on Thursday, all at the expense of Caitlin Clark fans.
In the first episode of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” the WNBA Rookie of the Year contender was asked about her relationship with Caitlin Clark as she reflected on the moment her interactions with Clark really began to ramp up.
It began when Angel Reese made the celebratory gesture of pointing her ring finger in Clark’s face during the final minutes of Reese’s and LSU’s NCAA title win over Clark and Iowa in the 2023 championship game.
Reese says it was a moment that “changed my life forever” as she called out her fan base for taking things too far.
“I think it’s really just the fans, her fans, the Iowa fans, now the Indiana fans, that are really just, they ride for her, and I respect that, respectfully. But sometimes it’s very disrespectful. I think there’s a lot of racism when it comes to it,” Reese said.
Angel Reese further added she got death threats and people showing up at her home.
“People have come down to my address, followed me home, it’s come down to that,” Reese said.
The Chicago Sky talented rookie also alleges that some fans have made AI-generated images of her, depicting her as completely nude, and sent them all to her family members.
“Multiple occasions, people have made AI-images of me naked. They have sent it to my family members. My family members are like uncles, sending it to me like, ‘Are you naked on Instagram?’” Reese said. “It sucks having to go through that and see other players have to go through that.”
Clark has rapidly become the biggest name in women’s basketball, which has been great for attendance and ratings, but the discourse around her can sometimes be quite toxic.
Things even got so bad that Caitlin denounced fans using her name to push bigoted agendas involving her opponents, per The Athletic.
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky have been at the forefront of the bad attention paid to Clark, most notably after Chennedy Carter hit Clark with a shoulder check, and Reese was viewed standing and clapping from the bench.
That situation led to one person taking it further by harassing Carter at a team hotel.
Angel Reese’s New Podcast Hopefully Calms Dow Tensons Between Her And Caitlin Clark Fans
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are the WNBA’s two fastest-rising stars and will forever be together, no matter what happens.
On the debut episode of Reese’s new podcast, Unapologetically Angel, she addressed her relationship with Clark and clarified that they do not have issues.
She may have called out the fans, but just maybe, her revealing the things that have been done to her can lead to some peace down the line.
