Today (March 20), famous male singer The Weeknd officially returned with the album After Hours after four years of absence from the music map (if only albums are counted). In this comeback, the owner of hit The Hills takes listeners back to the 1980s with fourteen darker songs that are more moody than the products he has released in the past.

Currently, the 30-year-old pop star’s fourth studio album is receiving a lot of positive feedback from the audience, breaking a series of previously set records. Specifically, this is the fastest album by a male artist to reach No.1 on iTunes in history with just five minutes. Not stopping there, Selena Gomez ‘s ex-boyfriend also occupied the top spot on the US iTunes chart in the song category with Blinding Lights. Previously, Apple Music also announced that After Hours had surpassed When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? of music phenomenon Billie Eilish became the album pre-added to the playlist (pre-added) with more than one million views.

The album After Hours broke a series of huge records on its first day of release.

Notably, remember that in November 2019, information spread  on social networks that the 29-year-old male singer’s crew had registered the copyright for a song called Like Selena , almost certainly to recounted his ten-month relationship with singer  The Heart Wants It Wants  that ended in October 2017. Despite many speculations about the above song appearing in this comeback, the name Like Selena absolutely does not appear in the tracklist of this album. Is he intentionally saving the song for his ex-lover for another occasion or is it just an unfounded rumor?

This is not the first time the Canadian singer is rumored to have composed a song for his ex-lover. Just a few months after the two broke up, The Weeknd released the extended single  My Dear Melancholy, in which many people believe that the hit  Call Out My Name  is about Selena. The above song even has the line:  “I almost cut off a part of my body to save your life” , making listeners think of her kidney transplant two years ago.
