29 years after starring together in Pulp Fiction, the new trailer for The Kill Room sees Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson reunited onscreen again.
A trailer for The Kill Room has been released, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman reuniting onscreen for the first time since 1994’s Pulp Fiction. Directed by Nicol Paone, the upcoming is written by Jonathan Jacobson and tells the story of an assassin who inadvertently becomes a sensation of the avant-garde art world after teaming up with an art dealer for a money-laundering scheme.
Ahead of The Kill Room’s release date next month, the Rotten Tomatoes Indie YouTube channel has now unveiled the official trailer for the film, reuniting Jackson and Thurman as characters very different from the ones they played in Pulp Fiction. Check out the new trailer below:
The trailer shows off the movie’s unique tone and teases its many supporting characters, with the intersection of the art world and the criminal underworld evidently leading to some dangerous consequences.
What The Kill Room Trailer Reveals About The Movie
While The Kill Room and Pulp Fiction are clearly very different movies, the latest trailer suggests that they may actually have something in common. In terms of tone, Paone’s upcoming thriller clearly has splashes of dark comedy, something that Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction had as well. As far as characters are concerned, however, Jackson and Thurman are playing very different roles from Jules and Mia.
Jackson plays Gordon in the movie, the handler to Manganiello’s Reggie, a hitman. In an effort to clean the cash generated from Reggie’s hits, Gordon turns to Thurman’s character, Patrice, an art dealer with a cashflow problem. Together, they launch a money-laundering scheme, with Reggie providing the artwork under the pseudonym “The Bagman”. Reggie’s very terrible paintings quickly become an object of fascination in the art world, however, and Reggie’s new high profile starts to have repercussions on his criminal connections.
The Killer Room cast also includes Maya Hawke, Thurman’s daughter, in their first onscreen collaboration. The rest of the supporting cast shown off in the trailer includes Matthew Maher, Debi Mazar, Mike Doyle, Larry Pine, Marianne Rendón, and Jennifer Kim, among others. While Pulp Fiction certainly sets a high bar, The Kill Room‘s reunion of two such talented stars makes the movie an exciting prospect.
