Samuel L. Jackson and wife LaTanya Richardson Jackson have a date with Women’s Guild Cedars-Sinai.
The couple will take the stage to receive a Hollywood Icon Award at the guild’s Crystal Ball, set to take place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills on Nov. 9. Kate Flannery is set to host the event, which will also see a Humanitarian Award presented to the Litvack Family and a performance from Grammy Award winner Lisa Loeb.
The Hollywood Icon honorees established the Samuel L. and LaTanya R. Jackson Foundation to carry out their commitments to a range of philanthropic causes in the United States and Africa. They were previously honored by the Children’s Defense Fund in 2016 for their work with the org and a focus on the “Leave No Child Behind” mission.
Richardson Jackson has received awards from such organizations as the United Negro College Fund and the N.Y. Keeper of the Dream Award. She was honored by the Ladylike Foundation, a faith based non-profit whose purpose is to educate, empower and inspire young women living in underprivileged communities.
Jackson has been nominated for every major award including an Oscar, Golden Globe, Tony, British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, Critic’s Choice, NAACP and Black Reel Award. He received an honorary Academy Award at the 12th annual Governors Awards in January 2022.
The Litvack Family, recipients of the Humanitarian Award, includes Dr. Frank Litvack, co-director of the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and Professor of Medicine at UCLA; Shelly Litvack, a multi-Emmy Award winner and nominee both as a director and producer for Days of Our Lives and General Hospital; Harry Litvack, founder of Lit Digital Media, a digital marketing firm, and founder of Impasta Foods; Willie Litvack, founder and CEO of SquadUp Inc.; Madeline Litvack, TV+Growth Product at Apple; and Erika Litvack, a law student at UCLA.
For 66 years, Women’s Guild has supported health care through research and innovation by raising more than $70 million in support of Cedars-Sinai’s work including a current project — the Women’s Guild Neurology Project led by Nancy L. Sicotte, MD, the Women’s Guild Distinguished Chair in Neurology, which supports leading-edge research, education and treatment of more than 150 complex neurological disorders treated by Cedars-Sinai top specialists in the field.
