New Year’s is a time meant to be spent with family and friends. But NFL players have a grueling schedule that requires them to play even on major holidays so that spectators can have a good off-time. And on New Year’s Eve, the Kansas City Chiefs had an important game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chiefs were coming off a disappointing loss at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders and desperately needed a win to placate fuming fans.

Responding to the call of duty, 2x Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes was on the gridiron playing for his team at Arrowhead Stadium, while his family was watching from the VIP stand. This time Jackson Mahomes chose to sit with Supermom Randi and his half-sister Mia, rather than shadow billionaire singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift

Randi Mahomes took to Instagram to share a story by her son, Jackson Mahomes. In the story, we can see the younger Mahomes taking a selfie with Mia and Randi. While Jackson sported a black t-shirt and a fanny pack, both mom and daughter sported Chiefs jerseys and jackets. Randi also wore a starry, golden hairband.

Meanwhile, on the gridiron, Patrick Mahomes was doing his best to save the Chiefs some face. He completed 21 of his 29 passes and also managed to record a touchdown, but also got sacked twice. The Chiefs have been called out for poor performance on the offensive side of the ball, while the defense has done uncharacteristically well this season. The main reason why the Chiefs won on Sunday was Harrison Butker, who scored 6 field goals.

But, unfortunately, this is not the first time that Mahomes has had to sacrifice family time for the sport that he loved. On Christmas Day as well, he was away from family.

Family reunites sans-Mahomes on Christmas

At Enchant Christmas in Kansas City, supermom Randi, Jackson, and Mia reunited for a happy time. They smiled broadly as they posed in front of vividly lit backdrops that were decorated with lit-up Christmas trees. The Instagram post, shared by Randi, was captioned, “An amazing time with family enjoying all the fun at @enchantkansascity !! Soaking up all the wonderful memories this holiday season❤️❤️.”

However, Patrick and superwife Brittany spent their holiday season in Kansas City with some children. The QB is presently in the running for the “Walter Payton Man of the Year Award,” which recognizes athletes for their achievements on and off the field and reflects the league’s dedication to charity and positive community impact. To spread Christmas cheer, Patrick and Brittany paired their participation in the award competition with a clothing giveaway.

With the regular season just a week away from ending, can Mahomes find time to spend with family?
