With a whopping 208 acting credits to his name and a career spanning more than 50 years, it’s no wonder Samuel L. Jackson’s success is so unrivalled.
The Nick Fury actor holds the record for most films over $100 million at the worldwide box office by an actor with a show-stopping 45 to his name!
Currently starring in Marvel TV mini-series Secret Invasion as eyepatch-wearing former S.H.I.E.L.D director Fury, Jackson is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.
Whether you know him best for his MCU role, as gangster Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction or even as frustrated FBI agent Neville Flynn in Snakes On A Plane, it’s highly unlikely you’ve never seen a Samuel L. Jackson movie.
It was Indiana Jones and Star Wars actor Harrison Ford who originally held this record with 11 movies as of 2000.
Just two years later, he extended his record to 15 films to gross over $100 million at the international box office.
He lost his record to Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise in 2008, after he racked up 20 acting credits that matched that level of success.
But with 45, it will take a lot of work to snatch the record away from 74-year-old Jackson, especially given that his IMDb page states he currently has 10 upcoming projects.
And while many actors say they can’t watch their own movies, Jackson once said: “I dig watching myself work.”
He’s previously said that his favourite of his own movies is 1997 Quentin Tarantino flick Jackie Brown, which may come as a surprise to people who would have more likely put their money on Pulp Fiction, the famed director’s 1994 offering, or his portrayal of Mace Windu in the Star Wars franchise.
Samuel L. Jackson’s top-grossing movies:
1. Avengers: Endgame (2019) – $2.794 billion
2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – $2.048 billion
3. The Avengers (2012) – $1.515 billion
4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015) – $1.395 billion
5. Incredibles 2 (2018) – $1.242 billion
6. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) – $1.132 billion
7. Captain Marvel (2019) – $1.129 billion
8. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019) – $1.072 billion
9. Jurassic Park (1993) – $1.045 billion
10. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) – $1.027 billion
