Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes announced a newly-minted deal with PRIME Hydration on Monday.
Owned by social media influencers Logan Paul and KSI, PRIME has grown rapidly since it was released in 2022 as an alternative to other sports drinks. Mahomes’ addition to the PRIME team is another massive step as the brand adds the NFL to their portfolio.
Mahomes will work with PRIME on ‘social media, special events, charitable activations and more, including Mahomes’ charity 15 and the Mahomies Foundation,’ according to the Hollywood Reporter.
PRIME has reportedly donated $100,000 to Mahomes’ foundation.
‘Prime is a disruptive brand that has taken over the beverage industry since it first launched. They are gamechangers, and that’s exactly what I strive to be on the field,’ said Mahomes in a statement. ‘Our partnership is a winning play, merging innovation and excellence, setting a new standard both on and off the field.’
Patrick Mahomes signed a partnership deal with influencer-owned drink PRIME Hydration
Owners KSI (L) and Logan Paul (R) launched the brand in 2022 as an alternative sports drink
The partnership was foreshadowed by KSI and Paul’s appearance at Arrowhead Stadium on December 10. Paul posted a picture of himself with his business partner on the sideline on X as the Chiefs hosted the Buffalo Bills.
‘Scouting for the next PRIME athlete @chiefs,’ Paul captioned.
Both KSI and Paul capitalized on their massive social media and YouTube followings to help their business become successful. The pair first merged their fanbases by starring in influencer boxing matches against each other. The first bout in 2018 ended in a draw while KSI won the rematch in 2019.
After the second fight, KSI and Paul began working together and growing each other’s US and UK audiences. The collaboration eventually led to their business venture in 2022.
PRIME has since partnered with organizations including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, the LA Dodgers, FC Barcelona and the UFC.
Their latest signing, Mahomes, now joins the likes of UFC stars Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski, soccer’s Erling Haaland and Alisha Lehmann, and boxing champions Shakur Stevenson and Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford.
