The first-ever 15 and The Mahomies Foundation gala Thursday night was a smashing success.

According to a post on the foundation’s Facebook page, it raised more than $600,000 to further their “efforts to improve the lives of children.” The 15 and The Mahomies Foundation spearheaded by star Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes supports initiatives focusing on health, wellness and communities in need, especially for children.

“I’m lucky enough to have a platform to start a great foundation called 15 and The Mahomies,” Mahomes said. “It’s a foundation that is designed around all kids – kids that don’t get the same opportunities that I had whenever I was young, or kids that are in the hospital with chronic illnesses or who have suffered major injuries.

“Those kids are the ones that train harder than me by a 100 times every single day, and I want to make sure I can give back to them in any shape and any way, in order to get them the resources that they need to have an amazing life,” he said.

The foundation said Mahomes and his girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, recognized 15 deserving nonprofit organizations and presented each with a $15,000 donation.
