Concern has been raised after Sydney was hammered by severe storms. The forecast doesn’t look promising later in the week.

Fans have been left fearing a severe thunderstorm could postpone Taylor Swift’s first Sydney show after wild lightning earlier in the week put four in hospital.

Swift is due to take the stage in front of 80,000 fans this Friday for the first in a four-day run of her Eras Tour shows at Accor Stadium.

The weather forecast could create some issues for the global star’s fans who will be exposed to the elements for the entire length of the three-and-a-half-hour show.

Fears are mounting after four people were hospitalised on Monday afternoon when a powerful lightning storm moved over the harbourside city, striking a tree in the Botanic Gardens.

A thunderstorm warning has been issued by the bureau for both Friday and Saturday, with a high chance of showers expected to drench the city on both nights.

Up to 15mm of rain could fall on Friday alone, with a steamy forecast of 35C.

While Friday and Saturday ticketholders can expect wet weather, Sunday and Monday are both predicted to be fine with some cloud cover and a high of 27C.

Luckily for fans, the songstress has only ever postponed two concerts in the almost twelve months she has been touring this show.

“I’m not going to cancel a show no matter what, unless physically they tell me that none of us can be on stage,” she told Nova radio station during an interview for her 2018 Reputation Tour.

Swift postponed her Rio de Janeiro concert in November after extreme heat resulted in the death of 23-year-old fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado the night before.

“I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio,” Swift said in a post shared via Instagram stories.

“The safety and wellbeing of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to, and always will, come first.”

A few days earlier, Swift postponed her Buenos Aires show in Argentina due to significant rainfall.

“I love a rain show but I’m never going to endanger my fans or my fellow performers and crew,” she told fans on Twitter.

“We’ve rescheduled tonight’s Buenos Aires show for Sunday due to the weather being so truly chaotic it would be unsafe to try and put on this concert.”

Aside from this instance, Swift has made a habit of playing through rainy weather during her international tour, with spectacular shots emerging of her performing in drenching rains that soaked her hair and clothes on multiple tour dates including the rescheduled Rio tour date.
