Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, a self-proclaimed fan of Taylor Swift, made an appearance on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Wednesday, joining in on the widespread enthusiasm that has swept across Australia since the singer-songwriter’s arrival last week.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has surprised a lucky fan with tickets to one of Taylor Swift’s Sydney shows. Mr Albanese was on Nova on Wednesday morning. “I’m calling to give you the news – which I reckon is pretty good news – that you have won tickets to Kate’s Suite Seats,” he said. “You’re off to Taylor Swift.” The lucky fan said she had been spent “probably 50 hours” trying to get tickets on Ticketek.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made a guest appearance on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, where he enthusiastically embraced the Taylor Swift mania that has captivated Australia.

The Prime Minister was live in the studio where he divulged that he would attend the global sensation’s concert in Sydney this weekend.

“I am very much looking forward to it. I’m a Swiftie, so it will be great,” Mr Albanese said.

Last year, the Prime Minister announced his 2023 Spotify wrap, with Swift taking second place.

Kate Ritchie, a beloved former Home and Away star, asked the Prime Minister if he was up for it before he made one lucky Swiftie’s day when he called them and announced they had won tickets to the sold-out show.

“G’day Talia, this is Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, how are you?,” he said.

“I’m sitting here with Fitzy and Wippa and Kate on Nova…I’m calling to give you the news…that you have won tickets to Kate’s Suite Seats! You’re off to Taylor Swift!”

The lucky listener, Talia, was in tears following the revelation, telling the team that her 22nd birthday would take place during the concert and that she had spent close to 50 hours trying to secure a seat.

Albo joked about his teams’ efforts to get to the show.

“Productivity in my office and around the country went down to zero when the tickets were available. I went to the office, everyone’s on their phones, on computers, no one was doing any work,” Mr Albanese said, joking that perhaps an attempt to get Taylor Swift tickets was the phone call Barnaby Joyce was making in the infamous footage of him lying on the footpath while taking a call in Canberra.
