Lilia Vu was fired up to find out that she’d be playing alongside the Indiana Fever star at an LPGA event

Caitlin Clark is fresh off a dominant rookie campaign in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever, but after a hectic stretch that saw her go almost immediately from college to the pros, she’s taking some time away from the game of basketball during the offseason. That has allowed her to take up a new hobby in golf.

Clark joked that she would spend her offseason working on becoming a professional golfer, but she has made good on that promise, as she will be playing alongside the pros in the LPGA at The Annika driven by Gainbridge, which will run from Nov. 14th to Nov. 17th.

The star Fever guard has shared her golfing exploits with fans on social media this offseason, so she’s likely fired up to be participating in this event. It sounds like the participants are excited to have her on board too, as Lilia Vu, who is the reigning LPGA Player of the Year, shared her heartwarming reaction to the big news regarding Clark.

“When the news was announced I immediately turned to my mom and I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh, Caitlin Clark is coming to the Pelican.’ I thought it was the coolest thing,” Vu said in Golf Digest. “Hopefully, I’m lucky enough to meet her on that pro-am day and hopefully run into her. It’s been so cool to see everything she’s done. I think she’s a great ambassador for women’s sports and just someone you look up to.”

Clark has had a massive impact on not just women’s basketball, but women’s sports as a whole, so it shouldn’t be a massive surprise that her attendance at this upcoming event has the other golfers set to participate rather excited.

Whether it be as part of the Unrivaled Basketball League, which has reportedly offered Clark a large sum of money to play for them, or in the 2025 WNBA campaign with the Fever, Clark will be back on the court soon enough. But for now, she’s enjoying her time on the links, and it will be worth keeping tabs on her at The Annika.
