Bolt’s proud world record in the 100 metres remains intact but how would he fare against one of the quickest footballers?
Usain Bolt was once quizzed on whether or not he could win in a race against footballing icon Cristiano Ronaldo and gave an interesting response.
The now-retired Jamaican sprinter still holds the world record for his performances in 2009 for the 100 and 200 metres distances respectively.
An eight-time gold medalist, Bolt is a huge fan of the Portuguese icon and when quizzed on racing him in a 2020 interview, he claimed Ronaldo would give him a run for his money over a short distance.
“For sure Cristiano Ronaldo,” the 34-year-old Jamaican legend said four years ago.
“For me, he works out every day. He’s a super athlete, you know what I mean?”
“He’s always on top of his game. He works hard, he’s focused.
“So right now, I definitely think he’s faster than me.”
Ronaldo is still of course plying his trade with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League at the age of 39, with Bolt choosing to bow out of elite running aged just 31.
Bolt competed from 2008 to 2016 and is still renowned as one of the best athletes of all time due to his phenomenal achievements on the track in that time.
A recent 3D simulation showed just how quick he would be when put up against Ronaldo, with the results not so surprising.
The now 37-year-old eased home ahead of the former Manchester United star, but it was an animal who proved the quickest of the group.

The video shows just how fast an ostrich would be alongside Bolt and Ronaldo, with the former coming first in a baffling three-horse race.
Bolt and Ronaldo both have a long-standing association with Manchester United, with the latter last playing for the club in November 2022.
“For me it is sad to see him go,” Bolt told Sky Sports upon the 39-year-old’s exit from Old Trafford.
“He played such an important role for us last season.
“I think he kept us in the Premier League because in a lot of the games he was the one that scored, kept us in it and got us three points.
“It is sad to see him go, but I understand why after listening to his interview that there is a lot going on that a lot of us don’t know about.”
