Split image of Kim, Khloe and Kylie on Keeping Up With The Kardashians

It’s not easy trying to keep something on air for 18 seasons, but fans have proved that they do want to keep up with the Kardashians. As the family became more and more influential, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, too, got more and more dramatic as the stakes just kept getting higher. When a family features the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, one of the world’s highest-paid supermodels, and Kim Kardashian, things are bound to get really intense.

It was revealed back in 2018 that the ratings for the 15th season of the show had dropped to an all-time low. But the next year, the show returned with perhaps the most explosive season ever and concluded in June 2021 after 20 seasons. Fans wonder if Keeping Up With The Kardashians is scripted and there are some scenes that fans aren’t sure are real.

Updated on November 23rd, 2022 by Aya Tsintziras: When Keeping Up With The Kardashians ended in 2021 after 20 dramatic seasons, fans followed the Kardashian-Jenner family and began tuning into their new Hulu show The Kardashians. With the season 2 finale allowing viewers a glimpse into Khloe Kardashian’s life with her new baby, the famous family’s daily lives are just as fascinating to see. Fans still watch older episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and question if KUWTK is scripted, as there are some scenes that don’t seem to be totally real.

Kris Humphries Proposing To Kim

There are many fights on KUWTK and also some nice moments, whether about family or romance. Sometimes, an argument breaks out even when a happy occasion is being celebrated. In the season 6 episode “The Proposal,” Kris Humphries asks Kim to marry him.

This is a dramatic moment since fans know that the couple was only married for 72 days. But fans aren’t sure that this was when Kris really asked Kim to marry him. It seemed like something that they did again for the cameras.

Kylie And Kendall Get Lost In Thailand

Kylie Jenner is KUWTK

In season 9, Kylie and Kendall Jenner are on a family vacation in Thailand and the others say that they have gotten lost. While there is screentime about the others trying to locate them, it doesn’t seem like they are actually in trouble.

When their sisters find them getting massages, viewers know that nothing happened at all, which suggests that this could be a Keeping Up With The Kardashians scene that is scripted. It doesn’t seem like this is a necessary part of the episode as they are having fun together.

Kim’s Earring Is Found In The Ocean

Fans love rewatching KUWTK scenes and that includes when Kim loses her earring in the ocean. Fans find this to be a humorous moment as Kim cries a lot, but there’s a part of it that viewers aren’t sure about.

Because Kim’s earring slips off her ear and falls into the ocean, fans find it hard to believe that it could actually be found again. Wouldn’t it be tricky to locate again?

Khloe Catching Corey In The Act

Khloe, Kayne and Kris on KUTWK

In Season 18, Khloe Kardashian catches her mom Kris Jenner’s boyfriend Corey Gamble sneaking around with a redhead in a hotel, only to discover that the woman is just Kris in a red wig. The sequence is all fun and games and is great television, but the entire build-up to the revelation is obviously fake. Khloe and her BFF Malika are grabbing brunch when the latter gets a call from a friend who informs her that Corey was seen with another woman at a hotel.

Malika and Khloe immediately reach the hotel to catch Corey in the act. There are a lot of loose ends here, from Malika getting a call right amid her not-so-happening brunch, to the gang already having permits to shoot at the hotel.

Kourtney Stealing Kim’s Phone

After the paparazzi posted unflattering pictures of Kim at a Mexican beach, Kim took a while to cope with the body-shaming reactions. In fact, her sisters noted that the Paris robbery and now the Mexican beach photos are wreaking havoc on her inner peace, and she’d feel much better if certain culture and entertainment sites or social media were blocked on her phone.

Khloe distracted Kim and took the latter to her closet while Kourtney took Kim’s phone under a fake pretext and tried to block those sites. While the Kardashian sisters were genuinely concerned about Kim, the scene was obviously not spontaneous and was conceived as a way of actually showing their fans how badly social media hurts their lives.

Kris Sharing Too Much Information About Her Sex Life

In one episode, Kris goes out to eat with Khloe and Kendall and starts gushing about her and Corey’s sex life. While Khloe and Kendall are visibly embarrassed, Kris seems unperturbed and happy.

This scene was conceived as a set-up to the one where Khloe thinks Corey’s cheating on her; Khloe even mentions to Malika how her mom was gushing about Corey at lunch. Fans immediately pointed out that this was too perfectly chronological to be real.

Kylie Lashing Out At Kendall and Tyga

During the family’s 2015 vacation to St. Barts, Kris and Kendall aren’t exactly happy that Kylie bought along her then-boyfriend Tyga. Kris, especially wants Kylie to spend time with Kendall since the two sisters rarely see each other. As Kylie walks away, Kendall, Tyga, and Kris start talking about Kylie’s temper tantrums and criticize her behavior.

But Kylie overhears them and asks them to go somewhere else and rant about her. The scene is unrealistic on so many levels because if the family had a genuine problem with Kylie’s attitude, especially Tyga, they wouldn’t be talking about it in front of cameras. Fans were aware that Kylie hadn’t gone too far and may just be listening in.

When North West’s Hamster Died On Kim’s Watch

What are the odds that an entire filming crew was at Kim’s place when North’s first pet died to capture her reaction? Running a reality show is not easy; clearly some big moments have to be planned ahead. Fans have pointed out that Kim must have known about this moment for a little longer than she let on.

In the scene, one of Kim’s assistants comes to her and informs her that North’s hamster is not moving. Kim and the assistant discover that the hamster has really died. Kim is on the phone with Khloe when she finds out about this, and Khloe was the one who had bought North the hamster. Coincidence? Fans think not.

The Sisters Talking About Dash’s Future

Kourtney and Khloe talking in a kitchen on KUWTK

Remember Dash, the multi-million dollar style boutique which was launched by the Kardashians sisters back in 2006? In Season 13, the sisters walk into a Dash store to check things out and realize how many of the products from their line-up are irrelevant.

While Kim and Khloe want to sell off Dash to a bigger retailer, Kourtney wants to hold off on that plan and thinks about revamping the label, and the sisters have an argument about that. A decision that big would probably be held behind closed doors with a line of financial planners. Even if the sisters were to decide the outcome among themselves, they wouldn’t have the major part of the discussion on camera.

When The Family Finds Out About Tristan’s First Cheating Scandal

Kourtney and Khloe eating at a table on KUWTK

Fans were quick to point out that it’s very unlikely that all the Kardashians found about Tristan Thompson’s first cheating scandal in the presence of a camera crew. When Khloe was nine months pregnant and was about to give birth to True, a video was leaked of Tristan making out with a woman in the club.

The show actually unravels the information by showing how each of the Kardashians found out about it. And it’s impossible that all of them found out about it the way the show depicts. The family’s concern about Khloe was really heartbreaking as she was days away from giving birth, but the entire episode was obviously dramatized for effect.

Kylie’s Call To Kim About Jordyn

Split image of Kim, Jordyn and Kylie on KUWTK

During the whole Jordyn Woods scandal, Jordyn’s BFF Kylie was put in a weird position because she wanted to stick by Khloe’s side but also did not want to see Jordyn get hurt. After Kim released a Snapchat video of her shading Jordyn by singing “Find your own man,” Kylie calls Kim to talk about it.

The Snapchat may have been an impromptu one, which is why it’s possible that the Kardashians realized much later that it was in bad taste. So, when Kylie called up Kim to tell her that she’s not okay with them shading Jordyn, that may have been a tactical image control move to depict Kylie as the good guy.

The Whole Kris and Kylie Office Debacle

Kylie and Kris in the office on KUWTK

One of the most hysterical sequences in Keeping Up With The Kardashians seemed scripted, but fans did enjoy the power play. Kris basically treats Kylie’s Kylie Cosmetics office as her own and moves in a massager as well, which is very out-of-character for Kris, the OG momager.

Fans couldn’t believe Kris would haggle with her daughter for a not-so-fancy office space. Moreover, Kris helped build Kylie Cosmetics, so the scene where she takes a call when Kylie is trying to shoot an important video on her phone is not realistic at all, because Kris would never do that. It’s possible that the entire drama was scripted in to make Kylie the billionaire seem somewhat relatable.

The Family Seeing Scott’s Mexican Vacation Photos

Scott and Sofia on vacation on KUWTK

Almost every time the family is filmed discovering things on the Internet, fans have blown the whistle on how fake and deliberate it looks. One of the most obvious instances was when Kris, Kim, and Khloe discover that Kourtney was on a vacation to Mexico with her ex Scott Disick and his current girlfriend, Sofia Richie.

Moreover, Kris and Khloe’s dialogue sounded really scripted, as if they were written to portray Kourtney as someone who’s not sure about what she’s doing, which really plays along with the show’s current narrative.
