Jennifer Lopez is professing her love for Ben Affleck.

At Tuesday night’s Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming film This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, which premieres Friday on Prime Video, the “Jenny From the Block” singer grew emotional thanking husband Affleck ahead of the screening.

“And then there is the person who inspired this for me, who has inspired me my whole life. He just, he inspired an album 20 years ago and I know he hates that I’m doing this right now,” Lopez, 54, said.

“He’s just like, ‘Please shut up.’ No! And I say no. I say, I love you and thank you for believing in me and helping me believe in myself,” she continued. “And helping me to grow every single day. Thank you for the family that we’ve created and our children and everything that you do for me.”

“You will never know what it is to be able to share this lifetime and have you be my love. Thank you,” Lopez concluded.

Ahead of the screening— where Lopez and Affleck, 51, shared a big kiss at their seats as the credits started rolling — the couple posed on the red carpet together.

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is a musical and visual reimagining of the life events that inspired Lopez’s upcoming album This Is Me…Now, which serves as a sequel to her 2002 album This Is Me…Then.

The project — which includes cameos from stars like Trevor Noah and Jane Fonda — has been a long time in the making for Lopez who said at a press conference last week that her real-life love story with Affleck helped push her to get it done.

“I was like, ‘I don’t write, I don’t do this.’ He was like, ‘You do, you write, you direct, you produce, you choreograph, you do all the things. Start stepping into that, start owning a little bit of who you are,’” she recalled Affleck telling her.

The pair were married in July 2022, more than a year after rekindling their romance. They first dated for two years in the early 2000s before calling it quits just days before their 2004 wedding.

Speaking to PEOPLE at Tuesday night’s premiere, Dave Meyers, the director of Lopez’s musical film, compared the couple’s collaboration style to that of Star Wars‘ Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi — with veteran movie director Affleck chiming in with some good advice as Lopez produced, co-wrote and starred in the ambitious project.

“They work pretty similar to how I think they are as a couple,” Meyers, 51, told PEOPLE. “I made a funny joke that Jen is like Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker, and Ben’s like Obi-Wan. It was really beautiful to watch how she would listen to the things that he would say.”

“We were there in their kitchen, in his office late at night, and it was just really nice to see that he cared and always was supportive,” he added.

Meyers explained that Affleck had felt “a little” trepidation “at first” over having “all their personal stuff out there” for the film, but he eventually made it work — and even helped the process go along more smoothly.
