After a long wait, fans finally know what Rihanna named her son.

The singer’s return to the spotlight with a stellar Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in February, a pregnancy announcement, and many public appearances with boyfriend and baby daddy A$AP Rocky has been well-received but fans have still been clamoring to know one final thing — the name of the baby boy she gave birth to on May 13, 2022, her first child with A$AP Rocky.

So what is the singer’s son named? Rihanna and A$AP have not officially confirmed their baby’s name but it is reported to be RZA according to an alleged birth certificate shared by The Daily Mail.

Rihanna’s son is named RZA Athelson Mayers.

The 35-year-old singer and 34-year-old rapper likely took inspiration from Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, better known by his stage name RZA, the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan — the famous hip-hop group formed in A$AP Rocky’s native New York.

The little boy also shares a middle name with his dad whose real name is Rakin Athelson Mayers.

Rihanna has actually been hinting at her son’s name without fans realizing. Over the past year she has been spotted several times wearing t-shirts branded with RZA’s name or nods to Wu-Tang Clan.

Rihanna previously said she is waiting to reveal her son’s name.

“We just didn’t get around to it yet really. We’ve just been living. But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just, like, getting it out there,” Rihanna told reporters on the red carpet for her Savage X Fenty show in Los Angeles in November 2022.

In the same interview, she also said that the Super Bowl is the only event she was willing to do after she gave birth. “If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special,” she said.

That same night the “Love on the Brain” singer told Entertainment Weekly about her favorite part of the day now that she’s a mom.

“Oh my God, the mornings, like, seeing his morning face!” she said. “Seeing a baby with, like, little bags and waking up and they’re just, like, startled. They’re trying to figure out where they’re at. It’s the cutest, it’s my favorite part of the day.”
Rihanna also kept her and A$AP Rocky’s son’s name a secret in her British Vogue interview.

In a February 15 cover story, interviewer Giles Hattersley revealed that even on set RiRi, A$AP and their teams referred to the little one as “baby.” Rihanna gushed to British Vogue about motherhood and her relationship with Rocky, calling them “best friends with a baby.”

“Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer,” she added before detailing her son’s close bond with his dad. “I’m just sitting on the sidelines when they’re together. I’m literally the girl trying to get into the boys club, waiting for my turn. He is obsessed with his father… Their connection is undeniable.”

Rihanna revealed her pregnancy in a photoshoot early in 2022 — flashing her baby bump alongside A$AP Rocky. The two began dating sometime in 2020, after years of friendship.

In July 2022, a source told US Weekly, “Rihanna is extremely protective of her baby, and she’s only let a select group of close friends and family meet him.”

“With a few exceptions, Rihanna hasn’t been the type to share much of her personal life on social media. She is learning and taking each day as it comes but is devoted to being the best mom she can be. This is the most important time of her life, and she’s taking it very seriously.”
